I ordered two sets of matryoshka nesting dolls - this set and another set - to make a gift for my wife. Due to order times I was afraid one set would not arrive in time and thus ordered both. The other set cost ~$7 (~$16 less than this set). However, the quality of this set was much, much higher than the less expensive nesting dolls. This set arrived well packaged and pre-sanded. The quality of wood used was superior to the less expensive set. In the end I decided to use this more expensive set of nesting dolls. Assuming quality is of importance to you I would shell out the extra money and buy this set. If the maker of these matryoshka nesting dolls lowered the price by a couple dollars it would be a no brainer.

All the dolls are sanded smoothly with the same general shape and feel. The fit and finish is excellent (pieces fit together, dolls nest properly, no missing chunks or cracks, wood doesnt feel too soft) and the dolls stand on their own perfectly even the smallest. Would purchase again.

This is the 6th set of nesting dolls Ive bought for my grandkids to paint. All the others, from various other vendors, required lots of sanding prior to painting in order to smooth them out and make them easy enough to open and close the dolls. This set required no sanding at all, and was ready to paint. I recommend these.

I’ve ordered 3 sets of dolls from different sellers on Amazon. The quality of the dolls in this set is FAR superior to anything else I’ve found on here!! I’m more than impressed.

The smallest one is very tiny barely 1/2 inch high so be aware. Otherwise great quality; I cant wait to paint them.

Purchased these to paint for my wife. They’re a little pricey compared to other sets on here, but the wood was nice and smooth and the dolls feel as though they’ll last a very long time, I am very happy with the quality. I applied a couple layers of clear gesso, sanded it down so the surface was smooth, painted them with Golden acrylic paints, and sealed them with KBS Diamond Clear which I can’t recommend enough, it’s really amazing stuff. The final product is truly professional level, and I mean the dolls themselves, not talking about my painting skills haha great set, highly recommended, and seriously, try that clear coat I mentioned, you won’t regret it, the finish is immaculate.

I decided to add an update. Should have done this some time ago but finally getting around to it. I used artist-grade colored pencils and Micron to create my set and loved this wood to work on. Both the pencils and pen go on well because to wood is so well prepared. I am know going to get another set and make some more! Each piece of the Matryoshka is sanded beautifully and there are no knots or glaring imperfections. They are already lightly marked with a small pencil line so you know where the tops and bottoms should line up. They were packed in bubble wrap in a very nice and sturdy box. I am a colored pencil artist and am finishing a set that has wood thats nowhere near the quality of this one so Im looking forward to working with this. I would definitely recommend this product!
