It’s a really good product to freeze my baby food but on its first use I froze beef puree and the smell of beef never went away even after several different product being frozen, the smell never goes away. I don’t know if the smell will cause cross contamination with other products. I only hand wash it because the instructions said to use mild detergent as it could get odor from the detergent.

I bought the silicone tray a while ago and have not started using it. I just learned about the pinch test today and gave it a try on the one I got. Unfortunately it does not pass the pinch test. Very disappointed. I dont want to use this for baby food. UPDATE: After I left the negative review, the seller contacted me, offered a full refund even before I mailed back the product, and sent me a set of bamboo/resin plates. Most impressively, with the bamboo plates they attached a hand-written card expressing their understanding of my concern. I am not really looking for bamboo plates, but do appreciate their sincere attitude toward their customers. Two stars up for the out-of-the-world customer service.

I use these to freeze fruit/veggie purées and I put them in the silicone pacifier and use them as popsicles for my teething baby in the summer and he LOVES them! Perfect amount to just pack in a little container and take it with you to go!

My son has PKU and we must account for absolutely everything that he eats. We have prepared several foods for him that we make in batches. For example, I roasted some butternut squash and then pureed the roasted squash. I was able to properly portion out 1 ounce in each cup and freeze it. Once they were frozen, they were easy to pop out and place into a freezer Ziplock bag. When I wish to feed him butternut squash, I take one 1-ounce block and heat it up for 1 minute in the microwave for a perfectly proportioned unit of food. Because each frozen block is 1 ounce, it is easy to measure. Even as he grows and eats larger portions, it will be easier to measure than larger blocks.

This product works well, as described and made perfectly-portioned baby foods. The silicone makes it very easy to remove food once frozen. However, it arrived with an awful smell that I can’t describe. No matter how much I wash the tray, this smell remains. I just hope it isn’t affecting the taste of the food for baby!

So far I am happy with the purchase. I have frozen breastmilk in it and I made yams for the first time the other night. For the breastmilk I made sure to measure the width of my bottles however I didnt think about how much room in general the cube would take up in the bottle. That being said you cant fit more than 2 oz in a 4 oz bottle and 3 oz in a 6 oz bottle at a time to defrost. But thats ok. Im really looking forward to making different foods for my little guy now that we are starting to enter the wonderful world of solids! Each cube filled to the top looks like it fits approximately 1.5 oz. There is a fill line of 1oz in each cube to let you know exactly where to fill to if you want to keep it 1 oz. The cool thing is you can pop out only one cube at a time as needed. What I noticed so far, is that the two cubes in the center are not as well sealed as the cubes on the side so there is a bit of freezer burn possibility there. I would not leave food in this for days and remove one at a time as needed because of that reason. I would dump all of the cubes in a ziplock freezer bag and pick them out from there as needed. Actually getting the cubes out was pretty straight forward. It was easier to run some warm water on the bottoms then they slip out. I think that if you were to purchase the WeeSprout reusable squeeze packs this purchase would be awesome. I plan I purchasing them once our little man gets to that point.
