> 3 dayThere is a firmware bug that caused my Linux installation to crash every hour or so (both Fedora 33 and Manjaro). After updating to the latest firmware it works just fine, but you cannot update it from Linux. I had to install Windows (luckily you can get ISOs from Microsoft for free now) just to use the WD updater tool. The drive works great now, but it seems crazy that I need to install Windows to fix a Linux exclusive bug. If youre a broke linux user than the process may be worth you time, but just keep it in mind. Western Digital, at least release a binary of your firmware even if you dont want to write software for Linux.
