Got this K87 with the Gateron Yellow Linear Switch option (the best of the switches, in my opinion) and have been enjoying this keyboard after some modding (changing keycaps, lubing switches and stabilisers) Out of the box it is a decent keyboard. The large keys (spacebar, shift, enter, backspace) can be a bit noisy due to the stabilizers but that was the only real thing i improved. After lubricating and putting some tape to quiten them and then lubricating the switches, it became a great keyboard even without factoring in the great price! The RGB is smooth and bright. Great animations and customizability. The only thing i can think they can realistically do is provide some larger feet for those that prefer an angled typing surface. I had to purchase some rubber feet seperately to give it a small 6 degree angle. The other thing is that you cant dim the brightness of the outer RGB ring - only the interior section.

This keyboard is great if you dont game at a high level. Unfortunately, the keyboard polling rate is locked to some number that is way lower than 1000hz, making key inputs less precise. The picture for the software on this amazon page showed you could change it, however in the actual software you can not. This keyboard doesnt support QMK either, so your options are much more limited in what you can do with it, as well as not being able to bypass that polling rate issue.

I like its small footprint of the keyboard and being able to change the switches to fit my need for office and occasionally ARPG play. I ordered the red switch version and the keystroke is very light and linear. Im getting used to it now though I was looking for something more tactile but didnt find much information about the differences between the blue, brown, and red switches. So some research of the switches is necessary if you are looking into this keyboard. I like the build-in chroma modes which do not require an installation of software. The color of the LED backlight is beautiful when flashing through the acrylic keyboard frame. I wish there is a way to increase the brightness of the LEDs behinds the keycaps independently from the accent lights around the keyboard which tend to be a little too bright.

This keyboard works, is already nice stock, and I personalized it to my preference by replacing the Gateron Blue with Kailh BOX Jade, and the stock OEM shimethru keycaps with XDA Manekineko keycap set. I read a review that apparently, due to the hotswap nature, the keys and keyswitches fall out of the board if you flip it upside down- this does not at all happen for me. If anything, the keyswitches are to me quite firmly in there- there are some little recesses in the acrylic for the keyswitch hooks to fit into. I suspect the other reviewer may have improperly installed their switches, or used very worn out or misshapen switches. I saw in another reviewer complain the boards plastic case is flimsy and will flex if you twist it. It does flex a little when I twist it but thats such a weird and deliberate action- the cases slight flex is just not an issue at all for daily typing and use. Maybe this is a problem if you bring your keyboard with you in a flexible bag? But I feel the reports of this keyboard being too flexible are very exaggerated. I noticed the stock images show different keycap fonts on the keycaps. I attached a pic of my stock keycaps to show the font used on the version I received in Feb 2021. It is a much cleaner font than the kind of ugly font you see on most cheap shinethrough keycaps.

This is the keyboard I chose for my first PC, and its wonderful!! I love how the appearance, and all the possibilities the keyboard comes with :) theres a lot of different lighting / LED options to choose from in my opinion. I got the red switches and theyre very nice! not too loud but enough to get that satisfying typing sound ^^ Overall: a cute keyboard that does its job!

The keyboard is the best at RBG due to the colors, recommended purchase for its price.

This is stunning, in every respect. If you are looking for a keyboard with awesome backlights you cannot go wrong with this, beats all the competition . I tried several others and none were near this. Very bright as well . I love it. Thanks to Amazon , I was able to try different keyboaards, all of which had something that didnt work for me , then I stumbled on this master piece. Well worth the money..Marvelous.

Context: This is my second mechanical keyboard and I bought the K87 for my Macbook. Overall, it feels great and I can tell its made with great quality. The display is so vibrant and bright and its overall just a great value keyboard. I gave this keyboard 4 stars for two reasons: the lacking software and the switch puller. Like many mechanical keyboard brands, this one does not have have software for the Macbook. The company however took the time to program the keyboard with keystrokes that allow macbook users to cycle through different light patterns and colors (this surprised me since my prior keyboard did not have the option). It was really easy to see the different patterns so this actually wasnt as huge of a loss as expected. They include tools to remove keycaps and switches, however the tool for removing the switch is poorly made. The prongs arent long enough to actually attach to the tabs attached to the switches, meaning more force is needed to pull switches, making it a little more tedious if you wanted to replace any switches. I ended up breaking the tab of one of the switches while customizing it. These are only two small gripes and even if I had known this would be the case prior to purchasing, Id still buy this keyboard again. Not a lot of mechanical and gaming keyboards are made with MacOS in mind, and this one gives an alternative way to still enjoy the keyboards full value.

Love it. First hot swappable and it’s great for beginners. Slapping some pudding caps and gateron yellows on there and it was great. For the style of keyboard it is I totally recommend tactile switches. But that’s just my opinion. Very bright and I love mine!

Im just entering the world of mechanical keyboards and customizing them. The Womier (Gamakay) K87 is a WONDERFUL starter board. It would have been perfect on its own. The sound is great and the feel is sooo smooth, but I chose to swap out the keycaps to pudding caps, lubed the switches and added some dampener rings because I wanted it to be good for my quiet office setting. Its working out perfectly!
