My cat is eighteen years old and suffers from arthritis and kidney disease. She was spending most of her days and nights sleeping and was losing weight so quickly that we thought she would be gone by the end of March. The vet made some recommendations about medications and food to help, but I wasnt able to get her to eat enough to gain back any weight until I found tall cat bowls. One of the bowls I found and bought on Amazon was the Yangabaga Raised bowl. It has made a great deal of difference in her ability to eat more. She has been gaining enough weight and with it the strength to go up and down the stairs, and to go outside again for short periods of time. She has also reasserted her Alpha cat status over our two younger cats. We have another tall cat bowl that we also like, but the Yangabaga bowl is taller and has deeper sides, which are both advantages for a tall cat like ours.

I already have one of the more expensive brands of raised/angled bowls for my cat but I was looking for a second one and trying not to spend too much money. My cat is elderly and needs something easy to eat and drink out of. Not only is this bowl taller than the other brand, it is nice and heavy and is not in danger of tipping. The height is perfect for an average sized cat and this thing cleans beautifully! I’ve seen people complain about it chipping in the dishwasher. Since my cat eats out of this twice a day, I just have a soft bristle scrubber at the sink to clean it out between feedings (sometimes with a drop of detergent, sometimes not) and the smooth surface cleans easily. I have had it for a few months now and the finish is still beautiful. The width is great as well. Most cats don’t like bowls where their whiskers can touch the sides and this is shallow and wide enough to avoid that. If you want to save $10 and don’t need ears on your ceramic cat food bowl, this is the one to buy. ;) Edited 5/12/20: I came online to order another one of these bowls today and the price has increased $5 from the last time I purchased it a few months ago. My quality comments have not changed but the pricing makes me less likely to buy a second one.

My large tabby really likes this bowl for water and it’s comfortable for him to drink from now that he’s old and frail and prefers drinking and eating while sitting down. The bowl is pretty and very sturdy. The reason I took one star off is that at the current height I need to fill the bowl almost to the brim for my cat to comfortably eat and drink from. However, he consumes very little in his old age and using this large bowl for food (which is what I got it for) was becoming too wasteful—or he would just ignore the small amount placed at the bottom, which was too hard to reach. I do like the concept of a raised bowl though, so I ended up getting a smaller tilted one that meets our current needs better. I’m sure this bowl would have worked great in his old days, when his appetite better matched the size of this pretty bowl!

Delivered with care; the bowl was encased in a styrofoam box : ( (maybe the shipper can figure out a cardboard product other than styrofoam because many cities dont have a styrofoam recycling program--- a lot ends up in a landfill, gets buried so it doesnt break down. Anyhu, the bowl is fairly big so we decided to use it for water. Cats took to it immediately. There were some sharp ceramic spots along the base, that sits in the counter, so we took a piece of sandpaper & smoothed it out before it could scratch the kitchen countertop. Nice dish, good height for the older cat as well as our kitten, and sturdy! Would buy again if theres a smaller size for food bowls.

No more bending down low to eat .

After reading the reviews and looking at the pictures I decided to go with this for my elderly cat to help with his arthritis and due to my makeshift one sliding around and not being quite tall enough. The height on this is fantastic for a tallish cat but the depth is a bit much if using for wet food since its more of a shallow bowl than a rounded platter. Very sturdy and large otherwise.

This is nearly perfect. Its ceramic, is a good height, but it is hollow underneath, making it impossible to wash in a dishwasher, and making it inconvenient for a time-starved family like ours. The manufacturer could have drilled small holes to allow water to drain when its upside down -- much like modern blenders.
