    Yes, they rust and not necessarily with wear. I placed one in a glass with a small amount of water and by the third day the ball bearing had rusted. Which is very disappointing because I bought 200. I had planned to put them in my acrylic paint and nail polish that I use like paint. I was misled by this answer No, unless getting into contact with corrosive material like salt etc. They are made from stainless steel. By Tom on December 13, 2015

    Greater than one week

    correct sized for shimano XT rear hub. Old bearings were out of round but the races were not damaged so replacing the bearings is a great way to get a smooth spinning wheel again.

    My rear axle was failing and ceasing. I swapped out everything except the old bearings. It still kept ceasing. Them I lost a bearing and bought these. After swapping out all bearing the rear axle no longer ceases and I can keep riding. Cheaper than a new wheel.
