> 3 dayBought one of these to try out - this one stays in my onion drawer, and picked up a couple more so I could set up a dry storage for 3D printing filament. My onions are happier (as long as I remember to recharge - the drawer gets humid fast, especially in the summer) — and my 3D printing has been going really well since I set up the dry box with the desiccant pack. Easy to spot the blue box through a semi-transparent plastic bin, so I know when I need to recharge. Just keep in mind that the pack is hot after you microwave it - just give it a few minutes to get back to room temperature before storing again.

Greater than one weekI used the desiccant to preserve a few cartridges which had primers until I needed to reload them. Nothing like a scientific test but Id bet it did the trick. Don

> 3 dayMan, what a great idea! We are constantly having issues with our attic storage stuff getting musty or moldy. We have our winter gear (we live in North Carolina), old Halloween costumes, Christmas decorations, and camping gear stored in totes. Every single one of them gets musty or damp in the summer. This little bag of magic solves all of that. I cant wait to test out the recharging feature, havent had it long enough yet. But I cant already tell its making a difference in our attic. Probably gonna buy more.

Greater than one weekIt probably can keep filament at equilibrium but it cant dry a wet roll. Silica gel has to be cold to absorb water while filament has to be hot to release water. At room temperature, it doesnt take any water out of the filament. You need a desiccant which absorbs at high temperature like CaCl.
