> 3 dayFirst time getting a gaming laptop, regular lower priced laptops are not good gaming platforms, this on the other hand greatly exceeded my expectations.

> 3 dayThis laptop was basically exactly what I was looking for. Before then, I never owned a true gaming PC. The only computer I owned before that wasn’t a hand-me-down was a 2016 Acer Aspire E15 with an Intel i5 and a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card with 8GB of memory. Needless to say, for any serious type of gaming, it was not to last. Games like Sonic Generations had the fan screaming in agony and the game would freeze at random points and games like Street Fighter V at lowest settings ran at about half speed. The only other modern gaming system I have was the Nintendo Switch, and while I love that system, it’s not the best main drive to play the latest blockbuster releases from 3rd Parties. And so, I began looking for a new gaming PC. I tried looking for a desktop all summer but I could never afford or find the parts I wanted and the prebuilt options didn’t impress me. But in September of this year I found this little guy and it had everything looking for it. I saved it up and got it at a discount of $1,100 with some extras such as a new mouse, mousepad, and backpack.

> 3 dayThis Acer Predator laptop is more expensive than other Acer brand lower level gaming laptops, but its hardly upgradable. It has weird design in the bottom case with very sticky parts on the hinge and side. Even with proper toolkit, its difficult to open the entire bottom case for RAM and SSD expansion. Most importantly, the laptop comes with Windows 10 Home 20H2 version OS. After initial set up of the laptop, it requires to do mandatory updates to keep up with the current system. After a few seconds of wait, the laptop tries to restart and said Windows updates are running. Then the nightmare loop happens again and again. The restart process has repeated over 50 times, but the laptop has not finished Windows updates for more than 10 hours. Just returned the laptop with original box and accessories to Amazon within 24 hours receiving it. Do not bother to contact the manufacturer for technical support, since they will tell you to do the same. The only way to resolve the issue is to open the bottom case and take out the SSD to wipe out the defective Windows 10 Home OS 20H2 version (its not compatible with latest 11th gen intel processor), and then reinstall Windows 10 Home 21H1 or Windows 11 on the laptop. You cannot do that on your own, since the laptops bottom case is very difficult to open.

> 3 dayAt a time and place where standard video cards are running $1000+ for halfway decent value cards, this laptop delivers everything it could for less than $1500. Was a desktop replacement for my son, who has it hooked up to a 50 4k display at 60Hz without any issues (It should be able to run 120Hz, but the TV doesnt support it) The insides to upgrade hard drive and memory are generally speaking not very easy to get into and in practice, they really dont want the consumer to do it themselves, but we upgraded ours to 32GB and added a 1TB NVMe drive to the system and its really set to do anything he needs for quite some time.

> 3 daySo I compared this one to the performance of a Lenovo Legion 5 that sported an AMD Ryzen 5800H CPU/3050Ti GPU. The Ryzen scored better in Cinebench but the Helios scored better in Heaven due to the 3060. The fans didnt ramp up to bad in both Cinebench and Heaven but the CPU did throttle peaking at 94c. Cinebench score was 12594, Heaven, it scored a 5034 with 406 FPS max. I then ran the same tests using the turbo mode and extreme profile to see what difference it made. The CPU ran much cooler and scored better in Cinebench with a 12824, GPU stayed cooler as well, but performance for whatever reason, slipped. In Heaven I recorded a score of 4264 with 365FPS max. Thought those numbers to be a bit odd, you would think using the extreme mode it would be pulling better numbers on the GPU. I loved the keyboard on this, much more customizable then the Legion 5 was, another thing you can customize in software is the boot logo. The laptop also makes this kind of cool musical tone when you first boot it up which Ive never seen before. Gonna have to find out how that is done and try doing it myself. The IPS screen looks absolutely amazing on this. Power supply is a 230 watt unit and this also comes with a carrying case of sorts that you can put it into. Like I said I compared this to my Lenovo Legion, which is priced about $200 less. All in all, it was very hard to say which is the better machine. There are pluses and minuses to be found in each one, but I think you are getting your moneys worth either way.

> 3 dayThis laptop was amazing. It did everything I needed it to do and I was enjoying it...for the first 3 days of course. Then out of nowhere the GPU fan just stops turning on. The GPU in the Predatorsense application showed a temperature of 92C at one point and the fan still did not turn on. Put on Turbo mode and nothing. Changed setting manually still nothing. I was really enjoying this laptop but that happened with the Fan. I would probably expect it from a year of use but this is supposed to be brand new.
