After sharpening a regular lead pencil it chewed up my colored pencil even though it’s for colored pencils. So I sent it back.

I am absolutely obsessed with this thing. As a homeschooling parent it is critical that we have a good, well made sharpener that can stand up to heavy use. This definitely does a great job!

This pencil sharpener was right on time for the start of the school year. It works great for our favorite #2 pencils and colored pencils. Haven’t tried it for crayons yet m, but it doesn’t look like those will be a problem either. Of course it could have been cheaper, but, all in all, a good investment. I would recommend this pencil sharpener.

Good sharpener. I like that it has two sharpness settings. Use the blunt tip setting to sharpen soft or brittle materials like charcoal pencils.

Just got this today so cant comment on durability yet but from the first set of sharpening, Im impressed. I went through about 20-30 lead and color pencils that had been waiting for its arrival. Even those colored pencils that my daughter got wet and were slightly split, this thing did a great job of sharpening and cleaning up without jamming or getting stuck. Emptying was easy, though a bit messy. Since there isnt a deep container collecting the shavings, you end up having to unplug the unit, take the whole thing to the trash bin and opening the container over the trash. No parts come off so its not a big deal but if youre used to a sideways sharpener where just the container can be taken to trash, you might find this mildly annoying. Also, even though its upright and youre pressing down into the unit, I still had to hold the unit down to avoid it from rotating or wobbling around the pencil, especially ones where the pencil wood had split, causing more resistance. They didnt slow down the unit, but they did require me to hold the unit down. Cuts were nice and smooth. No burrs, no chips, no broken tips. I used the dull setting and it still creates a pretty good point but not enough that you might stab yourself accidentally. I dont really see myself ever using the pointy setting. But its there if someone else in the family decides they want to kill someone with a pencil, John Wick style. Overall, pretty happy so far with the results. If there is a durability issue in the future, Ill make sure to update the review. Otherwise, safe to assume you can just buy this item and be satisfied with the results.
