> 3 dayEasy to setup and control with the Alexa app! Can setup timers to control on/off schedules. Terrific for holiday lights and decorations. The outlet covers aren’t very secure so I wouldn’t want to used it in a wet environment.

> 3 dayI bought this to replace my Meross that crapped out. The lights are cheesy, but it’s an Amazon product, and I did not have to dink around getting it hooked up to Alexa. I use it for my outdoor fountain.

> 3 dayEasy installation and integration with Alexa. We have tried several of these outdoor smart plugs and it always requires an additional app for certain features. This installs directly with Alexa … no additional apps to keep track of! Very happy with this purchase and our outdoor lights are much easier to manage now.

> 3 dayExtremely easy to install, quick, works perfectly with Alexa. We use this for outdoor light so we didnt have to go out and turn them on or use a timer we could turn them on from home, or turn them on from afar.

18-11-2024Disclaimer: I received this product for no charge through the Vine program but pay income tax on the retail value of the item. This weatherproof outdoor plug is ideal for remotely controlling outdoor lighting, fans, or any other appliance that you might use outdoors. It would be especially useful for holiday lighting where you can use the Alexa app to remotely program start and stop times without having to go outside in the cold, rain, or snow. Physically, the device is constructed well. The receptacles have separate silicone rubber covers to protect against water entry. The covers seal shut, but they feel a little loose in the closed position. The manual states the device has an IP65 rating which means it is protected from dust and water jets from any direction. To achieve that water resistance, the manual says the plug must be 4.7 feet above the ground. That seems a bit impractical as most outdoor receptacles are near the ground. The device can be controlled manually with switches located on the plug, but to use it as a smart device it must be used within the Alexa ecosystem. It will not work with Google Home, Apple HomeKit, or any other smart device app other than Alexa. If that is acceptable to you, this plug will work well. Setting up the device is easy. The only way to set up the device is to go to the Alexa App on your smartphone or tablet, select Devices, and add a new Amazon Basics device. Among the choices you are presented with is an Outdoor plug. Once you have chosen that device the app asks you to scan the QR code printed on the plug or in the user manual, but not the QR code on the box. Scanning the code then gets the device registered on your Wi-Fi Network and it is ready to go. Although setting up the device was easy, I couldnt immediately control the devices with the Alexa app the first time I set it up. I had to unplug and plug the device in a couple of times before I had voice and app control over the two receptacles. That could be frustrating to someone who hasnt previously used smart devices and discovered their occasionally finicky behavior. The two receptacles can be controlled independently. By default, they will appear as plug 1 and plug 2 on your list of devices on the Alexa app. However, if you have other Amazon smart plugs already on your network, they will rename themselves to plug 3 and plug 4 or whatever number is next in line. Of course, you are free to rename the receptacles as you please. In summary, this outdoor smart plug works exactly as promised as long as you remain within the Alexa ecosytem of smart devices.

> 3 dayWe have a heated water bowl for birds that we put out in the wintertime. This plug is going to work perfect to remotely turn the heat on/off. The plug is sturdy and looks sleek. It has two, three-prong outlets that point downward to prevent rain from getting in. The set up was extremely easy. You just open the Alexa app, add a new device, select plug and then turn on your Bluetooth. It took 2 minutes. Great product and I highly recommend getting it.

> 3 dayThis plug works so much easier than other outdoor plugs with their own apps where you need to enable a ‘skill’ for it to work with Alexa. Pair this with the Alexia app and done!
