> 3 dayThe Alexa smart plug is amazing! I use it to control the light in my bedroom. Very convenient when I fall asleep at night and don’t feel like getting back up to turn off the light. It was super easy to set up.

Greater than one weekPlan to order more of these. I checked off the box when ordering that our other devices were connected to Wi-Fi. The plug recognized the Wi-Fi right after plugging it in and it was ready to use! Very easy to use just the Alexa app and not have to use another app for other brands of plugs. Highly recommended!

> 3 dayThis was extremely easy to set up. I plugged it into a power strip and Alexa picked up signal immediately. I plugged in my lamp and asked Alexa to turn on 1st plug and lamp came right on. I purchased a few Gosund plugs and they never were picked up by Alexa, even though it says they are compatible. Very pleased with the ease of setting up and usage of this plug, and I am NOT very tech savvy so I am very happy it paired with Alexa and worked the first time I tried, Ive unplugged and moved this around a few times and it has always automatically reconnected to WiFi as soon as it was plugged in again. The power strip its plugged into has a surge protector, unfortunately, the smart plug itself does not. I have renamed plug 1 to Living Room Lamp, you can rename additional plugs in the app or directly through your Alexa/Echo device. I can turn lamp on and off from Alexa app when I am not home. I would definitely purchase another one when they have another promotion for $5, not sure they are worth $25 Only thing I would change is the size, its fairly large for just one plug. If you plug it into a wall socket, you can use the other outlet easily with a 2 prong plug, but its a little tight with a 3 prong. If you have several appliances/lights etc., in the same room, I think I would go with the smart plug power strip itself, it has 3 outlets on the strip that can be controlled independently and its only about $2 more.

> 3 dayI recently purchased the Amazon Smart Plug to automate my older, non-IoT coffee maker, and it has made my mornings so much more enjoyable. As a Certified for Humans Device, the smart plug is remarkably user-friendly, offering seamless integration with Alexa. Setting up the smart plug was a breeze using the intuitive Amazon Alexa app. I easily created a schedule, and now, like clockwork, the plug turns on my coffee maker every morning. By the time I get out of bed at 6 am, Im greeted with freshly brewed, piping hot coffee, eliminating any waiting time. The compact design of the Amazon Smart Plug ensures it doesnt obstruct adjacent outlets, making it a practical choice for any home. Its sturdy construction also instills confidence in its durability, even with daily use. In conclusion, the Amazon Smart Plug has transformed my morning routine, providing a hassle-free, automated coffee-making experience. If youre seeking a simple yet effective solution for home automation, I highly recommend the Amazon Smart Plug.

> 3 dayJust finished a complete master bathroom rebuild and added my fun little lamp, Fergie to it. I wake up in the middle of the night and say Alexa Fergie On and I have complete light to the bathroom. Back to bed and say Alexa Fergie Off and its back to sleep for me! This smart plug synced automatically with my Echo Dot as soon as I plugged it in. So easy! Location is several walls away from my router and I have had no trouble with it staying connected to my Wifi. I am totally sold on the Amazon Smart Plug!

> 3 dayThis plug can be a pain to setup. I have purchased two of these plugs and here is my experience with each of them. First Plug This plug is used to control a lamp that has an on/off switch that semi-broke when a labrador retriever tipped the lamp over. The switch still works, but you have to turn it just right or the knob comes off completely. So we left it in the on position permanently and we used to manually plug/unplug the lamp when we needed extra light. Amazon often runs promotions for these plugs so I think we picked this up on Prime Day or Black Friday. This plug for some reason I couldnt scan the QR code and had to manually setup. Once setup, it worked fine with Alexa controlling it as a light. We renamed it to light from first light so we could just say Alexa, turn on the light or Alexa, turn off the light. It was setup so long ago I have no idea how it got grouped into lights. Our lamp doesnt have a smart bulb. Second Plug This plug is also used to control an on/off switch. This plug was a major pain to setup. I tried both the QR code and manual setup. Sometimes it would connect to my wifi and sometimes it would not. If it setup, I couldnt turn it off or on using Alexa app for android for a quick test (my Alexa speaker isnt nearby). If the setup timed out, I would get various errors on not being able to see the plug or not being able to connect to wifi. Finally, I figured out the plug was flaky because of the distance from my wifi router. I happened to have a Netgear EX2700 (2.4Ghz only) laying around because my wife used to need it for an old Lenovo Yoga when she was in college. I setup the wifi extender again (after a factory reset as it was setup for an old password) about half way between my router and the Amazon plug. This time the QR code scanning worked. I used the same password for my network name plus _EXT on the end. I think the Amazon smart plug must have tried this network with the strongest signal and the saved password because I didnt have to pick the network and retype my password after I previously chose to save it. Finally, I could control the lamp from my phone which this time was grouped among my smart plugs. I renamed Second Plug to Piano Light and it was good to go. One thing the Alexa app cant tell you is the signal strength and reliability of your WiFi network. It might show it briefly when choosing the network (signal strength), but it would be nice to see it constantly displayed within the app when showing the network your plug is on. This way if youre going into your device list settings to see whats wrong with the device it might show a flaky signal which would explain why you cant control the plug with your voice or the Alexa app. It doesnt have to constantly show this signal, only when you open device settings. I can understand the limitation of the wifi radio they can put into these plugs and thus the need for extenders if you get far enough from your router. I am using a NETGEAR R6700 Nighthawk AC1750 Dual Band Smart WiFi Router, Gigabit Ethernet (R6700) also bought from Amazon.

Greater than one weekI had a few WeMo smart plugs before ordering these. First of all, I HATED the app because adding a plug was so cumbersome. Plus, one of the plugs never did show up on the app so I couldnt really control it. It was in a room upstairs and I thought it must have been out of range of my WiFi router. I do not have a WiFi extender and almost bought one due to this issue. Had to send those plugs back. I was excited to see Amazon was coming out with their own smart plugs and pre-ordered them right away. Controlling everything through one app is way preferable. As a huge bonus, my upstairs plug that I previously could not control with the WeMo plug and app now works flawlessly with the Amazon plug and Alexa app. I guess it wasnt out of range after all. Pros: 1. if youre already tied into the Amazon Alexa ecosystem this just makes sense, and you keep things under control with a single app. And easily controlled with your Echo device if you wish. 2. Really easy to add a plug via the Alexa app. Alexa will recognize it right away and you just scan the back of the plug to add it. 3. Shorter and less bulky than the WeMo plug. 4. Smart plugs that may have been non-responsive on my network before are working flawlessly now with the Amazon plug in use instead. Cons: 1. A bit pricey. I wish they offered multi-packs for a lower price per unit. This will probably happen later. 2. Adding a plug to operate on an on/off schedule was NOT as easy as with WeMo. It took too many steps, was not straightforward, and should be more streamlined. Basically, youre creating what they call a routine. You have to add a start time. Then go back and do it all over again to add an end time. So I had to create two routines to get my coffee maker to start on weekdays at 6:45am and turn off on weekdays at 7:45am. That was silly. I did eventually figure it out, but they should really work on making it involve less steps and be more intuitive. I will buy more but will wait until the price comes down or theyre on sale.
