I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600X to this Ryzen 7 5800X hoping to see some really big improvements in my CAD station. No issues with the processor itself. It does what it supposed to but in my application, I did not see the performance gains I was hoping for. I am sure it has more to do with the way my software utilizes the cores so I wont ding AMD for that. Is my computer faster, sure it is, just not night and day. I guess the old 2600X was better than I though it was. What I was not prepared for were the changes needed to go from a 65Watt processor up to the 105Watt category. I had an AMD Prism Spire cooler but I quickly realized it wasnt going to be enough for the new processor. I am not gaming, but I am running CAD software and I usually have 2 browsers open with a dozen tabs on each as well as Slack for inter-office communications. The original cooler was running 75% speed or more most of the time. It sounded like the machine was about to take flight sometimes. After one day it was clear a new cooler was in my future. I eventually settled on the very large and expensive (but quiet) Noctua NH-U12A cooler. Now the machine is quieter than the old processor with the Spire cooler but the cost to get there ended up way over my original budget. In hindsight, I would have just avoided the 105Watt processor. If I had dropped back one level to the 65Watt class processor, I wouldnt have noticed the performance difference and I would not have had to invest a small fortune in cooling. In the end, my machine performs well and is quiet but I did learn my lesson about buying more than I needed.

Given the price of lower end parts thanks to shortages this is actually a good bang for you buck

The chip arrived on time and the outside box was fine but there was a hole punched in on the side. The chip seems to work fine. I usually get an invoice on a product that ships through the mail so I can keep it for warranty if needed. These are my only concerns not complaints. The transaction was smooth and didnt have any problems.

Works amazing. Runs a little warm compared to what everyone is used to, but was said to be expected by CEO. Absolute powerhouse of a CPU for gamers and workers who dont have 500+ dollars for the 5900x or 5950x.

Upgraded from a i5-4500k to one of these cpu, extremely satisfied. Cant give an in-depth comparison to other CPUs but this has more than met my expectations
