API NITRITE TEST KIT 180-Test Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Test Kit

I always wanted to know how much nitrite is in my aquarium - so this takes the guesswork out. I was happy to see that I have around 0 ppm nitrite. Look up the nitrogen cycle for aquariums if you want to find out more about why this is important to know. I like saving money ordering these products through amazon, the pet stores are too pricey.

I bought an api nitrite liquid tester but there was no color test card in the box.

Does what it suppose to do

I performed accurate calibration using distilled water and nitrite-ion calibration solution. Every time testing results were 2-4 times lower than expected. 0 and 0,1 values are not distinguishable at all. It is hard to match sulution and scale colors because scale has much more of red.

I have bought and used may API test kits over the years and they are usually a reliable product. But this one has me baffled. Is it a return or just a quality control issue. First off, upon receiving it, I took out the instructions to read them. HUM???? Instructions are for a NITRATE test kit, not NITRITE test kit. Ok, simple instructions are on the back of the color card. so, I start the test and add water & drops to the test tube, snap on the cap and turn it upside down as instructions. The water/fluid leaks out! I press on the cap hard but it still leaks. BUMMER!!!!!! None of my other test tube and caps leak. Come on API, get your act together. Is this a QC issue or do you sell seconds on Amazon????
