These cartridges are exactly like the ones that come factory with the filter. While they do work spectacularly, because of this, I do find myself rinsing them to prolong their use. I can usually get about a month out of each one before replacing them.

Great volume of filtration. No issues with it being to much for a 40 gal tank. Its a little noisy unless you put a weight on top of the lid. Easy to operate and change filters.... self priming as well
