Arches Watercolor Block, Cold Press 9X12

I have used these watercolor blacks for many years. There was a time when it might have difficult to take a sheet off of the block once in a while and had to be careful or it might rip and ruin your painting, but for the most part they are great. But i have had problems with blocks I have bought in the last 2 or 3 years and it is really disappointing. The sheets are coming off the block. The black rubber around the edges isnt thick enough or strong enough to hold them on. Sometimes almost the whole block of papers will come lose from the bottom board, or it will come apart in the middle on the larger blocks I have bought, and sometimes just the top layer will start coming apart so the painting I am working isnt flat when it dries, defeating the purpose of using the block. I like aquarelle arches paper but I wish they would improve the quality of their blocks.

In my opinion Arches is the best Watercolor on the market. Ive tried several other brands and have always come back to Arches. Its thick, it lets you put layers and layers of paint and water and it lasts forever.

This paper is awesome! And in the block even better as I was doubly frustrated with other paper having to be stretch and being substandard. I am staying with this brand! If you are looking for a white paper though this isnt

Arches is my favorite watercolor paper. Worth the price to me. It is sturdy and flawless. I spend a lot of time on a painting so I invest in something that will last for a long time.
