Greater than one weekDay and night! I recommend this 1000%. With a few bucks you will gain a lot! I bought an old laptop and was always hot and the fan always spinning like crazy. Then I read online that you could decrease the temperature by replacing the paste that is used to cool down the CPU. I bought this guy and with YouTubes help I was able to open my laptop, noticed that the old paste was dry. Then I applied the new one and 2 things happeneded! The temperature went down A LOT ( A great improvement)! and the fan now is very silent as these fans adjust their speed as required. So with a few dollars you improve the performance of the laptop, probably will increase the lifespan of the computer and now I can put on my lap more comfortably, before was crazy, also my hands could become very warm after a while.

23-11-2024Have been using Arctic Silver for more than a decade now. I had a 9 gram one that lasted for 7 years, used for various builds and experiments. I was debating getting MX-4 but the price for this is a better deal and lasts longer. Though I suspect after many years the paste does dry up just a bit.

> 3 dayHad to replace a 4 year old motherboard that was bad. The CPU was still good, so I needed some thermal compound to install the heat-sink when I installed the CPU on the new motherboard. Warning for anybody taking off a heat-sink that has been on for a while, you need to be careful, you just cant rip it off, you need to work it back and forth slowly and easy until you break the seal that has formed. The first time I did it, I thought I broke the CPU, because the CPU and heat-sink both came out of the socket, with the lever still locked. Luckily the CPU worked in the new motherboard. Anyway, the Arctic silver 5 works great and I have temps running at least 5 C cooler than before. Its easy to use, and so far I have used it on one other CPU that has a Arctic Cooler heat-sink. Still have enough for a few more applications, not sure what the shelf life is once it is open and the cap is put on. But I already got my moneys worth out of this purchase.
