Arctic Silver 5 AS5-3.5G Thermal Paste

Not much else to say. This is a leading brand for a reason. My laptop runs much quieter after replacing the thermal paste with this product. Unfortunately I didnt measure it beforehand to see the overall change, but it certainly doesnt heat up as fast as it used to. Make sure you read the directions though so you see how long it will take for it to completely set in.

A friend of mine serviced my 4 year old laptop, which was overheating way too much, and changed the (awfully eroded and cheap) original paste with this. And I must say, it the best! I have a Toshiba Satellite with a Turion x2, and it got to the point where the cpu reached 67 celsius on idle, but now it doesnt get past 48-49 while coding, watching videos and multitasking. I really recommend it!

Wow. Before using this paste I was running a stress test with no paste and the CPU (AMD Vishera) was up to 167 degrees F. After applying a thin layer of this paste, the CPU hangs out at about 115 degrees F during the same test. Same ambient temp.

For a few bucks, this greatly improved my CPU performance. With stock Intel heatsink/fan, my CPU was running at 35-36c @ idle. After removing the stock thermal compound with a cotton swab and benzyl alcohol, I applied a thin layer of Arctic Silver to the heatsing and CPU. I immediately powered on the system, let sit @ idle for about 30mins, and checked my temps. The CPU was running 5 degrees cooler! - Thanks to Arctic Silver, my computer now idles at 29-30c!

Been using this stuff for years, and it will continue to be the only thermal paste I buy
