The half star I am taking off is because you have to be a little careful with the hinges that join the earcups to the head piece, if not, you may damage them; also, the clamping pressure is a little more than desirable, must get used to it and rest a short while after extended use.

I didnt think there were a good enough set of headphones, these have at least after about a week of burn in, blown my mind how crisp they sound.

These are amazing headphones. The amount of sound detail they give you is incredible. Very comfortable, good bass, crisp highs that arent harsh. I love putting these on while Im working and being enveloped by the sound. I have them on while writing this and listening to my Phil Collins vinyl recordings. Absolutely pristine sound. Listening to these is like taking a vacation.

Just got these, and they are very impressive. Small things can make a big difference in how comfortable headphones are to wear for extended periods, and the fact that the headband sits a little forward on top of your head when the cushions are vertical makes these more comfortable to wear when laying down or reclining in a chair, as the headband is less likely to hit the pillow and twist the cushions. Great neutral sound, and I think they look better than the more expensive ATH-M50s. I think the guys at AT did a great job with the design and execution of this product, and am amazed at how good they sound for the price. I was willing to pay the price for a great headphone experience. I listened to some headphones that costed over 3 times the price of these, but kept coming back to the ATH M40s set as they honestly sounded and felt better than anything else. No need to spend a few hundred dollars for a great set of headphones- these will get the job done.

Head phone is lighter than it appears and offers crystal clear quality albeit flat, which is as advertised so for more booming bass, equalizer settings will have to be tweaked on devices

Great for the price, balanced, detailed and has very good separation. These cans are not bass rich but has presence. I use Shure SE425s for my daily commute and I felt these where way better.

This is my first foray into audiophile grade headphones so as a disclaimer I dont know much about highs/lows/balance, possible alternatives in this price range etc so Ill keep it simple. Id say I have accumulated over 1,000 hours of use from these headphones and I can say that they are very good with little to no drawbacks. Everything they claim to be from the research I did before hand is true from my perspective. I read somewhere that they were a little on the large side which was something I was concerned about as I have a slightly small head but I still have to extend the arms one notch on either side to get the right fit so unless you have a seriously small head I wouldnt worry about that. The arms extend quite far as well for you folks with larger heads. The comfort is exceptional, I can easily wear these things for hours and hours with no discomfort and I was surprised at how light they are I saw on a review someone mentioned that but it still stumped me. I use these headphones mostly for gaming and listening to music on sound cloud and the quality is incredible, just crisp and clean. Ive definitely garnered a new sense of appreciation for music from the detail produced from these bebes. As for drawbacks Im sure if you were in sound production youd be able to nit pick but I have yet to run into something that annoys me personally doing what I do and Im not about to make something up. I havent gone out of my way to test their durability but I have dropped them a few times from waist height onto wood and they havent damaged. To sum it up in my opinion this is a high quality product from a reputable company that delivers what it boasts and for the money I spent ~£70 I would highly recommend these to anyone one of my best buys.
