Bought product because of some of the reviews. Had it about five months, about 80 hrs on the lamp.was watching a movie when it shut down, no power to it, let is cool down for 12 hrs plugged it in still nothing. Can’t contact BenQ on the weekend, hope they can help me, if not out of 1500 bucks. Revising my review after contacting benq.took a little while to get through, sent project back they repaired it free of charge projector shows great no problems so far had it about a month will give is upgrade on stars from 2 to 4 stars

The unit came wrapped in a protective plastic that when we took it off left a big sticky mess all over the unit that does not come off.

This projector is awesome. I have had four different projectors over the years. Obviously this being the newest it has become my favorite. It does not support Dolby Vision, my only down side and not worth marking down because I knew that when I bought it. It puts up a clear image and the auto iris is amazing. I run a Xbox One X on it and plays 4k content with easy. The video game responsiveness is perfect and think this would be a perfect addition. Brightness is also a plus on this. Total darkness is always ideal, I have mine in the garage and I will crack the garage about 6-8 inches for airflow during the day. It lets sunlight into the garage, not a lot, but i can clearly enjoy watching TV or movies on the projector. Load time is about 1-2 minutes from start to get to full brightness. Another quality product from BenQ

Mounted at 11 feet from screen and it will only fill 80% of a 135 screen. Ceiling fan prevents mounting further back. I now have to move the ceiling fan to get it to the 13-14 foot sweet spot. Not BenQs fault. However a shorter throw projector could have handled the 11 foot distance IMO. I will try mounting it behind the fan first to see if it can work at 16-17 feet and still be bright enough. The pole mount places the projector below the fan enough to work. I can remove the light portion if needed. Initial picture quality is fantastic on HD, have not tried 4K yet. Color is great out of the box. Brightness better than expected with only 2200 lumens. With over head lights on screen was bright. With lights out its amazing with very dark blacks. Moral of the story, read the specs carefully and figure out mounting option prior to ordering. Otherwise the projector is a winner out of the box. Will update review in a couple weeks once we have tried out 4K and 3D.

After a 45 min installation replacing my previous Epson, I struggled to get the picture formatted correctly only to eventually find out on Reddit that even though I have 16 my screen was too small for this projector as it does not have a digital shrink feature. Check your distance and screen size before ordering. I thought I did my homework as I looked at every projector I could find on the $1500-$2k range. That being said, once I moved it closer and remounted on the ceiling it works really well. The picture is so much better than my old one and switching between Bright during the day and Cinema mode at night gives me a great experience and a great picture anytime. While this is not true 4k most people will not know the difference and unless youre side by side, most likely cant tell.

This is my fourth projector in 10yrs. Recently had the Epson 5040UB and decided to go with Benqs HT3550 DLP 4K (1080 × 4), over Epsons new 5050UB claimed 4K which actually only displays 2k (1080 x 2) (read Epsons fine print). The HT3550 is also about half the price. The HT3550 is so much sharper than my old 5040UB, its like seeing 4k for the first time. Due to having light colored walls in my light controlled theater, I really dont see a noticeable difference in the claimed contrast between the two. This project is not advertised as a bright room projector and will not be suitable for that environment. With todays projectors in the sub $3000 range, theres a trade off of either having deep rich true theater like colors, or a super bright picture. I prefer I true to form picture in a light controlled room.

Be amazed by authentic HDR intense binge watching and sports viewing experiences -- even in well-lit rooms. It’s easy with TK850i 4K HDR smart home projector powered by Android TV. Glide through simple set up, then kick back and enjoy 100”+ projected 4K UHD 8.3 million pixel pictures and stellar audio. Whether it’s your first home theater projector or an upgrade, you’re sure to love TK850i with Google-certified Android TV sporting events, movies, and games from the Google Play Store.
