> 3 dayAllow me to start by saying that I had to return this projector. My theater room has a 1080 projector that does a good job but it bothered me that I got a much better picture on a low cost TV than I did in the theater room. After reading a lot of reviews and matching products with my budget I settled on the HT3550. I set it up and the right half of the picture had about 10 vertical lines; it was like watching a movie from a prison cell. I called BenQ and, much to my surprise, they answered the phone quickly and the support rep asked a few questions, had me try some things, and then finally concluded that it was them and not me. I played with it for a few hours and tried to ignore the obvious glitch. The colors and the sharpness were much better than my 8 year old Panasonic 1080 projector but still not as good as the 4K picture I get on my LG OLED television (no, I didnt expect it to be that good). But, I keep asking myself whether the picture improvement was worth the money. Im still undecided so I havent ordered a replacement. If I was setting up a new home theater, this would be a no-brainer. But as a replacement for a working 1080 projector? Ill get back to you.

Greater than one weekSDR quality is good, and HDR without the Wide Color Gamut filter is engaged looks very good...However, when the WCG filter is engaged, it adds a distinctly blue/green tint to the image. It doesnt just reduce brightness as I have read about. Wish I could watch in DCI-P3 HDR mode, but it just doesnt look good at all. Also, when I have a white on black image on the screen, say the white text on the Eco Blank screen, or white movie credits on black background there is a significant blue/purple shadow around the text. This is only noticeable up close, not really at normal viewing distance. Looks to me like chromatic aberration from the lens. Is this normal for this model? Finally, in 4k 24fps mode, there is a loud, annoying rattle. Maybe a fan, but I think its part of the pixel shifting mechanism...its quite loud. Maybe 2-3x louder than the fan, even on Normal lamp mode. The rattle does not occur in 30 or 60 fps modes..only in 4k/24. I really wanted to leave a 5-star review for this projector, since I decided to upgrade to this unit from the Optoma UHD50 that I was going to buy, but with the issues Im having, I just cant...I tried emailing BenQ tech support, but have not heard back from them in several weeks, and have tried calling their tech support phone number for several days now but cant get through, so not impressed with their customer service either at this point either... I havent decided whether Im keeping this projector or not yet. It has all of the features I want, and looks pretty amazing in SDR mode, so Im really hoping BenQ gets back to me soon and makes this right, so I can get the full benefit out of it. Maybe their Customer Service team monitors Amazon reviews more than they check their email or answer their phones...

> 3 dayLove this projector! Replaced an aging, BenQ W1070 1080p projector with the HT3550, and could not be happier. Fits the same as the W1070 in my slightly smaller room, and produces a brilliant sharp 4k image. Movies and 4k content is spectacular. HDR required a firmware update out of the box. (1.0.3 to 1.0.5) that resolved HDR coloration issues to my satisfaction. Gaming works very well. Was a little worried about lag going in with the listed (~50ms) lag, but found it to be perfectly acceptable for couch console stlye gaming. No noticable difference in play to that of a standard 4k tv. Tested 3D content on Blu-ray and it worked beautifully with plenty of light and a bright image. At this price and feature level I highly recommend it!

> 3 dayBENQ delivers as expected. I bought this to replace my 12 year old Epson Cinema HD projector after the internal board went bad (known issue). Mounting this can be a big pain because the BENQ has hump on it where as most projects are flat where the mounting brackets go. I was able to use my 12 year old mounting bracket by some adjustments. First I added some foam on hump and got bigger screws (M4) to make the bracket connection. The foam was used to prevent scratches and dents, and to get the bracket and screw in. The other two screws on the flat areas were simple to get in with no modifications needed. Also I preferred to use my old bracket as it was measured for my 120inch screen. The only other work was running a 4K HDMI cable around 30 Feet as there was no 4K 12 years ago. Also had to get a new receiver and a few more cables for other media devices. Now the setup once powered on was pain. BENQ should of made this simple but one has to play with this setting plus the remote etc. Finally after an hour of moving the project in X direction and playing with remote plus the lens on the project I got everything adjusted to my 120 inch screen. Since I am not using this for gaming I cannot rate that.

Greater than one weekDim bulb that flickers during bright scenes. HORRIBLE customer service: they disregard every issue I’ve consulted with them. The colors were completely messed up on the first one I received and the hdr didn’t work. BENQ technical support refused to help and I had to get Amazon involved to receive a replacement. Instead of saying our projectors have defects, they tell you that their projectors don’t have defects.
