California Air Tools CAT-4710SQ 4710Sq Quiet Compressor Gray 4.7 gallons

The 4710SQ is fantastic. Ive owned many air compressors over the years including large units-and this one is the best. It is small enough to stash on a shelf but has the duty cycle and throughput of many big units that are 5-10 ties the size and cost. I was a bit skeptical about the quitness claims-and figured the unit would need a sound enclosure like every other compressor Ive had. But the claims of quite are true. You can see from the picture that the unit is out in the open and needs no sound enclosure. I have the unit on a remote control so that I can turn it on and off without using the switch on the unit-but have to leave a note on the door to remind myself to turn it off when I leave---it is so quiet I forget it is in the room. Specs-wise, it is everything that the specs claim. My old compressor would trip the breaker if other tools were on because of initial current draw-this unit starts by brining the current up slowly with no step function of draw so the breaker trip problem is gone. ALso, the regulator actually works and I can properly control pressure into my tools.

Where was this machine all my life? If all I needed was to keep my tires inflated I’d probably still buy this. A pneumatic nail gun prompted me to buy this. I never know if something this inexpensive is just a Chinese knock-off or a safe, well-built machine. Time will tell, but so far I’m living the whisper quiet operation and solid construction. It weighs a bit much, so I’ll likely put it on wheels. UPDATE 2022: I have somehow made excuses to buy pneumatic tools just because of the great compressor. I made it sound near silent in the original review. It’s not. But relative to its peers there is no comparison. I did have a part failure that took some work and really thread compound to replace successfully. Not expensive though. And I’d still buy this again.

Its a compressor; you know what it does. The only question is how loud it is, and Id equate it to a newer garage door or maybe a washing machine. Something that does not cause you to raise your voice in a conversation at all. Perfect for my garage!

These are great units. I bought the one just up from this one for work with the wheels and that is the best by far. This one is basically the same without the wheels. These are great units. We have had the one at work now for 3 years and use it all the time. It still works just like the day we took it out of the box. I work in a school so we needed something quiet. You cant believe how quite this is. When it starts up with 0 pressure you can hear the air hissing into the tank over the running of the compressor. I bought this one for my home use. I am going to make a cart for mine so I can roll it around. Great product. I would buy another one and I have been recommending them to my friends.

I was amazed at how quiet it was its just what I needed after using a small and extremely loud compressor that my family complained about how noisy it is , I work on many projects in my basement and just couldnt bare with anymore loud air compressors anymore I also boutique another quiet air compressor thats just as quiet , I can actually turn both of them on whole theyre asleep when Im working late on my projects , Im happy and content with this compressor and how both compressors came without any damages , definitely will recommend to friends and family members of the service and products that are delivered to me .

I was fed up with turning on my old compressor the having to flee the shop while it filled. This is bigger yet fills faster. Quietness was not a bonus for me, it was my primary qualification. This IS quiet, and it’s well-made. What is a bonus is that the condensate drain has a lever, not a hard-and-slow to turn small knurled knob. Very pleased, I should have given the old compressor to charity long ago.

very quit and efficient. I use it as home owner. very good and i have tested air tool from harbor freight like Grinder, sender etc. works great for momentary use. you can use it as blow gun to clean out dust. overall very good product for around the house. Thanks. Samir

This air compressor certainly is quiet! Dont hardly know its on when it cycles. Keeps the pressure up to correct levels for airbrushing or nail gun (intermittent things) but didnt keep up with an air powered sander. Overall it is very useful.

seems well built . I had a bostich pancake compressor before but I could not run it at nights without waking up the neighbourhood. Now I can work at nights because this one is considerably more quiet. love it

I really like this compressor. I use it in my hobby/craft/wood shop. It is very quiet, doesnt vibrate and move around on the floor and is compact.
