> 24 hourNo useful hardware is given. Tried putting this in a small space ( the entire reason I got the unit was to put it in a tight spot and this one is very compact ) and was given 4 screws, some plastic washers, and 2 thumb screws. The thumb screws were far too wide to use in the space, so I had to source my own. The 4 screws were not marked, so I had no idea where to use them or on what, and they didnt have any way of securing the other end of the bracket. Ended up ruining most of my center console trying to put this in. No instructions are provided on the mounting of the radio, simply on its use. Very bad experience.

> 24 hourGreetings- I have purchased this CB and shipping was super fast and second to none as always. I have since installed the unit and all functions as intended with the exception of all received audio is in Spanish. Is there either a way to turn off the Spanish close caption or was incorrect unit shipped to me?

> 24 hourWhen you buy this, make sure to budget for mounting hardware and an external antenna, and a power adapter, depending on how you are going to install it. It comes with everything you need to mount it to your vehicles electrical system, but if you want it very mobile, then you might want to buy a power port adapter. We wanted it to use between vehicles for when we go on longer trips, and its really perfect for that if you get a antenna that can be moved but they can withstand highway speeds. It comes with information on how to use it, but thats really very simple. It doesnt come with information on how to really install it which is what you need! Its a good little unit with clear transmission, and the cord is long enough if its in the middle that both passengers in the front can easily use it. Unfortunately a lot of truckers these days are using the internet and headsets to communicate. Theres very little traffic locally here! When we realize this we ask around and thats when we found out that some trucking companies have banned CBS all together-stating that insurance and distracted driving rules wouldnt let them have them. I checked distracted driving laws in Georgia and it allows for CBs. It might be different from state to state.

> 24 hourI received the radio promptly. Well packaged and complete. I installed a cigar lighter plug to the power cord as I hoped to be able to move the unit between vehicles as needed. I connected the antenna, tested the radio out it seemed perfect. Good reception, squelch control and transmitting range. Took the truck on a long trip the next day and the radio would nether transmit or receive. While trouble shooting I removed the antenna connection and the connector on the chassis came right out. Don’t think it was secured to the radio properly. Needed to use tools to remove the radio side of the antenna connector from my antenna. Not a good start. Maybe should have spent more on a well built unit.

> 24 hourCobra has always been a good name in car electronics. You will need to use an antenna with this, and it can be plugged into the cigarette lighter, although I think its not recommended. To hook it up that way. I recommend my friend, breaker, breaker 19. Thank you. God bless you. May the rest of your life be the best of your life. OZ

> 24 hourThis is a CB radio that I havent tried before and Ive had a few experiences with them a long, long time ago. It was a lot of fun to get into this and to get it set up, working the way that I want, and to get it installed correctly. With that said, the instructions were lackluster (to be nice) and it didnt come with a plug or anything as it needs to be hard wired. I love options so a plug wouldve been great. It works fine and has a bit of power for a small CB radio. Pros: Not a big entry cost to get into it Easy to setup if you know what you are doing (or dont mind searching online) Works well Cons: Dont like the lack of instructions Wish it came with a plug

> 24 hourPersonally, I go WAY back with CB radio, when it was in its heyday around 1974. My first rig was a home base consisting of the classic Lafayette Comstat 25B (vacuum tubes!), a Turner Plus-Three desk microphone, along with a 20’ omnidirectional antenna on the roof of my two-story house. It was a great set-up and over those years I met so many wonderful people, some of which I still keep in contact with to this very day. Cobra has always been a great brand in the CB arena, and this unit is no exception. Though it’s so tiny, they’ve really packed a ton of function into it: - Full 4 watts of transmission power, the maximum allowable by the FCC. - Dedicated button to instantly toggle between channel 9 (emergency) and 19 (a trucker favorite). - Good mic with thick coiled wire. A nice touch there are two additional buttons on top, to quickly switch between channels. - VOX capability, so you never need to take your hands off the steering wheel. - Automatic and manual squelch. - Adjustable RF gain. - S/RF meter. - Accommodates an external speaker. - And more! Its antenna jack is a standard S0239, which accepts a PL259 connector. I purchased a 20” center-loaded magnetic roof antenna and amazingly even within the city I can easily get a good 5 miles of transmission distance out of it across all channels I’ve tried, with no SWR antenna tuning required. However, where a CB really shines these days is on the highway, since they remain popular with truckers who routinely transmit invaluable information such as traffic accidents and speed traps. Also, on those open roads my transmission distance at least doubles, since there are far less obstructions. Power connection is bare wire, but I simply attached that to a cigarette lighter adapter using heat shrink butt terminals so it can be stored in the trunk when not in use. For permanent installations, you can of course use any available 12V power source within your vehicle. If you decide to go that route, all required mounting hardware is supplied, including a microphone bracket. As far as documentation, only a “quick start” guide is included which may not be detailed enough for beginners. That said, be aware that you can download the complete owner’s manual at the Cobra web site within their “Support” section, in three different languages. There’s also a page there with Basics, Tech Tips, Troubleshooting, and FAQs. Whether you’re just curious about the world of CB or an experienced enthusiast, this radio certainly won’t disappoint, especially at this modest asking price.
