The metal tie design is awesome. The mantles go on with very little effort and they are sure to stay connected.

Good for colman lantern

works as expected

If you use propane or white gas lanterns, you have to use these types of mantles. They suck. Pain in the rear to put on, then you have to prime them, and often 1 just burns up, so back to square 1. Eventually you get them lit, just to find next time you go to use the lantern, one or both has developed a hole, or just distingrated completely, so back to putting on new ones. So why 4* ? Neccessary evil. Cant do without them, if you use these types of lanterns, but the coleman ones do seem to offer some level of consistency.
