> 3 dayThe good quality is obvious when you install these. They were sturdy and easy to install with directional tabs. Liked the fact it came with extra carbon odor absorption filters. Would highly recommend these

30-11-2024Like many other people who have written reviews about the chemical odor issue. This is what happened to me and what happened after I talked to the manufacturer. 1) I bought a replacement filter from Amazon and like many, it had a strong chemical odor 2) Upon contacting Coway support via email, I told them about the issue and they said that the filters had been exposed to something (no mention of any details on of what or how) but that they did not think it was toxic and that Amazon knows about this so I should ask for a replacement. I had to include a screenshot of my receipt as proof of purchase. 3) I explained this to Amazon support about the issue. There was no mention of knowing about the exposure or the odor but they did send me a return label and a replacement. 4) This second filter still had the odor but was much less. Still concerned, I reached out to Coway again and told them that the issue still persisted with the new filter, described to them a little more about the issue, and provided other information (upon their request) such as my name, address, photos of the filter inside the 1512HH, and the serial number of the 1512HH, and they would consider sending a replacement. 5) I got a replacement from Coway and the filter had a very slight odor but was much, much better than the two from Amazon. However, the plastic packaging around the filter was a little different as it contained a yellow informational tag (with a diagram to remove the plastic), and the plastic packaging had an adhesive flap that one can reopen and close. There were also a few crease marks on one of the sides of the filter itself, possibly from sustaining pressure or impact or from being handled. Im not sure of the exact cause but none of the filters (including the original one that came with the 1512HH had that) have such creases. So, I cant definitively say that this filter was handled in some way to remove the smell before it was sent to me, or if the filter sustained some sort of pressure from storage or shipping, but I can at least say that they were responsive to my concerns and sent me one that barely an odor. Another observation is that the printed identification on the filters are different (as shown in photo). Also, it came in the same box as the filters from Amazon but only had 1 odor filter, instead of 2. The final observation is that I continued to use the second, and less smelly filter from Amazon. I tolerated through the odor because I live in an area affected by wildfire smoke and didnt have much of a choice while I corresponded with Coway and waited for the replacement. I cant say if that was right move in terms of possible toxicity but thats what I decided for myself. The smell did eventually go away, but it definitely takes a couple weeks of regular use/airing out though.

> 3 dayI can confirm other reviews commenting on the VOCs, or to me the smell. It does have a very plasticy, unpleasant smell when you put your face right in the air and take a deep breath. Dont notice it in the room though and no one has yet died in the 6 months since I installed it. Air seems clean.

Greater than one weekFits in my Coway air purifier and works just fine. No odor that many others have mentioned. However the print on the HEPA filter does differ from the one that shipped with the air purifier. The air purifier pumps much more air with the new filter and the old one looks pretty gross after the suggested 1 year of use. Highly recommend changing these on schedule.

> 3 day* Updated to 1 star as I ordered a 2nd filter set for my other air purifier and seem to have received a counterfeit. This was also ordered directly from Amazon, so buyer beware! Note in the image that replace is relpace and odor is oder. Also noted that the correct filter set has #3304899 in the lower righthand corner vs #3109905 in the counterfeit. The COWAY logo is also the incorrect font. I expect better than this when ordering from the 1st party instead of shady 3rd parties. * Product appears to be genuine OEM replacement filters from Coway. These were ordered directly (sold by) Amazon and delivered on the last day of 2021. The black filters did not have any sort of chemical smell, however the same cannot be said for the HEPA filter, sadly. The HEPA filter had an incredibly intense chemical odor upon removing it from its plastic wrap. I left the filter to sit in the garage for 1.5 weeks before attempting to use. The odor dissipated some, however as soon as the filter was placed in the air purifier and ran, the odor emitted was very strong again. I can only imagine how bad it would have been had I not left the filter to rest for that 1.5 weeks prior. I ended up having to place the air purifier in the basement, running on maximum strength, for 24+ hours. After running the air purifier for 24+ hours, the odor finally dissipated. This type of chemical odor should not be acceptable for a consumer product, particularly one aimed at cleaning the air. I would imagine that if you used this filter directly without a safe place to get rid of the odor, this could potentially be a health risk? This is only my opinion, not an expert (clearly). I would look at finding an alternative solution in the future should reviews reflect strong chemical odors persist.

01-12-2024I have three of these units. The thing that I like best is the option to remove the carbon filter. I have found those can create a bad, as well as irritating smell for me and make units unusable. I have 2 of these hepa replacements. Haven’t found a problem with any smell. But, on receipt, the first thing I do is throw away the carbon. I also don’t use the ionizer. Hope this helps someone.

> 3 dayThis is my first time replacing the Coway air filters so I had the originals to compare to. They looked exactly the same as the originals Happy with the product.

> 3 dayIn September 2021, I ordered a spare filter, but ended up not needing it, as I was out of town much of the year. I finally opened it today (October 2022) and it smells like a chemical fire. I put it in the purifier anyway, hoping the smell would go away, but I got a terrible headache, so I removed the new filter and threw it in the trash. On the other hand, the new filter that arrived a week ago (September 2022) has no smell. Im hoping whatever supply chain issues Coway was having are over.

Greater than one weekThis is my 5th time buying one of the official replacement filters. When I put the filter into my purifier it filled the room with an odd new filter smell (I wouldnt say it was chemical like or unpleasant but was definitely noticeable when you walked into the room the purifier was running in), I ended up ordering a replacement directly from the Coway website because I thought the one from Amazon may have been a defect but it also had the exact same issue. Weird because the first couple times I bought filters they were completely odorless. Luckily after like 1-2 days of running the filter the smell went away completely, you could probably do the same by just taking it out of the box and setting it outside or something for a day. Overall the filters do work really well and Im glad the new filter smell faded pretty fast.

> 3 dayI was a little nervous buying this product after reading some of the reviews about the smell. However, I needed replacement filter because the one came with the purifier has turned black after 8 months of used. I am glad that I gave it a try. The replacement filter has NO SMELL as some of the reviews indicated. It works great. I would recommended the product.
