I have several of these scattered about my apartment (window ac units, dryer, lamp, fan) and bought a few more just for spares. They connected easily. My only concern was security. These plugs and just about any other cheap internet device should be connected to a vlan or to your guest wifi network for an added layer of security. It doesnt need to be on the same network as the devices you want to control them with (ie echo, smartphone etc). These plugs are 2.4ghz wifi only. I can see why some people are having trouble connecting these if they dont understand what that means. Ill try to explain as simple as possible. Just about every router in your home these days support 5ghz ***AND*** 2.4ghz wifi. Never in 20 plus years have I seen a router that does not support 2.4ghz. Before you begin the setup process you MUST make sure your phone/tablet is connected to your 2.4ghz ssid (some routers will be setup with the same ssid for both 5ghz and 2.4ghz so this wont matter to you). If you are connected to a 5ghz ssid the plug wont see it and it will never connect. Once connected you can control the plug via the crestin app no matter what network your phone is connected to (home, cellular, mcdonalds wifi etc). Enable alexa, google assistant whatever you want in the crestin app and youre good to go. Good luck

It wont work with my 5ghz wifi connection, and Im not messing with my router and lowering my speed just so this POS will work. Hard pass. And I was so excited to try these.

Works like a charm. Im very happy with this. Its the same price as an old fashioned timer switch and much more convenient! I have timings set up in the Crestin app, which is a little clunky but once its set up you dont need to use it any more. Then, for custom use, I just tell Google to turn things on and off. I can manage it remotely too, and it has solar and weather-related controls so you can turn things on/off at sunrise or sunset, or if the temperature hits a certain level.

I have a few smart plugs, they all worked quickly, fought these ones for 30 minutes and they never connected with all the available methods. i will get more of the ones I know work and am sending these back.

If you are familiar with devices like this these are very easy to set up. I have used other type of X10 devices all over my places, but needed just a simple device to turn on a engine block heater where I did not have any X10 setup. This was a quick solution. Not a whole lot of bells and whistles to the app, but does what I needed. I can manually turn it on, or set a time of day (TOD) so my truck is ready to roll on those cold mornings.

I’d give a 0 star review if I could, seriously! We’ve followed the steps to connect our devices and it always come back saying the “device has timed out”. After reading other reviews it turns out that you can’t connect with an iPhone and have to jump through hoops to set up a 2.4 Wi-Fi connection. Absolute trash!
