showing less speed than expected, i dont understand why this is happening to me

got this to replace a 1Tb Segate 5400rmp drive. It was about 3yrs old in my laptop and was starting to have issues. When backing up on USB 3.0 it was slower at 20 MB/s at its best. When putting my backup onto the new drive, it hit around 122 MB/s, a huge improvement.

Was an easy replacement for the prematurely failing non-system 1TB HDD in my Acer laptop. I did have an external SATA to USB, which made it easy to copy to the SSD before the swap. Prime day pricing made this an attractive choice over the more feature rich SSDs. So far, so good.
