CURT 40085 Raw Steel Trailer Hitch Ball, 30,000 lbs, 2-5/16-Inch Diameter, 1-1/4 x 2-5/8-Inch Shank

This ball is exactly what I needed. The weight capacity fits the requirements of my equipment trailer.

Works great for big or small loads.

Made well, threaded area is very long, had to add several washers to do what I needed.

Nice machining. The threads are really nice.

I bought this as used which is fine since its a 30,000 trailer ball but it did not come with a nut. If it had said missing parts I would have known that the nut was missing and ordered one or bought a different one. I went to three stores to get a 1 1/4 nut and no one has one. Works as it should, just either keep it inside when not being used, or keep a thin layer of grease/oil on it if you leave it on your truck, it is raw steel and will rust if you dont. Ive had several that were chrome plated, and eventually the chrome starts peeling off. Thats why I chose this ball. Nice machined finish, looks great.

This is the only one I will ever buy! No chrome to chip off. Keep it oiled and it wont rust.

I purchased and paid extra for the stainless steel ball to stop rust. I had the ball for 2 weeks, it was not on the vehicle that entire time, the shank was covered with rust. I called Curt Industries, after shufling me 3 times from answering, to customer service, to technical support, they told me the ball is not stainless steel, it is only covered with stainless steel and it was going to rust. They told me to return it.

It is exactly what I wanted and does the job!
