Dr. Seuss The Grinch / Le Grincheux

Unlike the ridiculously disconnected Jim Carey version of the Grinch, this one nails the character and story of the original. Of course, it delves more deeply into the story, and adds a couple side stories, but that should be expected in a full length movie. The heart of the original story is intact. Also, the movie is visually stunning. Really gets your Christmas spirit going.

Visually it was beautiful and well animated. Had really cool gadgets and contraptions. BUT the story, writing and directing was a very confused mess. It did not know what it wanted to do but still tried very hard to force itself to be meaningful in weird places. Overall very shallow, dull and meaningless, and man did it try. I cringed throughout at its attempts to do so. I feel like i probably should not have let my children watch it because, while the movie has a cute face, there is something a bit off and deceptive about it. Aside from lacking all the charm of the book, cartoon or the live action movie, it was just very disappointing.
