Hey Friends, I got this Substrate mix for out Box Turtle tank, and he is very happy! It smells great and comes in two seperate packs, so you can make a mix to your liking! Good stuff!

This bag of substrate is much bigger than I thought itd be! Im very pleased about that! Its made of Vietnamese dried moss and bark. When you open it, you cam smell what the forest floor aroma. Its not overpowering, in fact I actually like it. I got this for part of the land area inside my Red Slider box turtles terrarium. I think its perfect as Im going for as realistic of an environment for them as possible. Really happy with this product, price point is good and you get a lot! Definitely recommend.

The word from my niece who has a reptile rescue nonprofit is that her creatures like this mix of bark and moss. Not a terribly big bag, and she goes through a lot of substrate, but still, it was good that she could try this out to see if shed want to buy bigger quantities.

I have tried several substrates and this seems to be the winner for my tortoise. He like to burrow in it and sleep.

She has an anole, and it was time to deep clean his cage. He didnt stand on the reptile bark we had gotten him, he seemed to not like to sit on the bottom much. He does like this, though. Even though male green anoles arent known to be burrowers, he would burrow, pop his head out for a meal and play in it. He goes all over his enclosure now, and really likes how soft it is.

I am trying to make the ground cover for my outdoor enclosure for my box turtle as natural as possible. This reptile substrate is one of the materials I use.

This is a good quality substrate for reptiles and terrariums. I like the mix of bark and moss. I think I expected a slightly larger package based on the description. I plan on mixing it with some Eco Earth anyway so its not a big deal. I feel that description should give package dimensions as well. Update. After using some of this package I found there is quite a bit more moss packed in than I thought. The moss is of good quality is there is quite a bit of it. Package size is a bit deceptive. More moss than it looks like. Update review to 4 1/2 stars.

We are using this Bark/Moss Substrate & Bedding for our Outdoor Terrarium that houses our Eastern Box Turtle. Her name is Yoshi. She actually enjoys hiding out in the mossy part in the afternoon & in the morning you will find her sunning out on the bark portion of the substrate catching some sun rays. I would say this Particular Mixture was a GREAT combination for our Turtle. I can say this Substrate/Bedding is 100% AUTHENTIC & REAL. (What you see in my photos is nothing but this Substrate of Moss & Bark) I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product!

So I found the best way to use this is in layers. I have a leopard gecko tank. I bought coconut fiber and laid that down first, then moss and bark. Definitely keeps the humidity in for a nice shead. For the size this is a little pricey. But it looks really nice and I think my girls like the moss more than just coconut fiber alone.
