what a difference these are from the previous ones I purchased. (stabilus lift-o-mat), They were defective and did not hold up the hood. I didnt retain the receipt and could not return them. My fault. These new ones actually lift the hood as soon as the safety catch is released. I like these!

Just bought an 02 Grand Cherokee and the hood struts were shot. These fit perfectly and hood shoots up with one finger after its been released. The only tool you need is a flat head screwdriver. An extra person would be good too but it can be done solo (can confirm) as long as you have something holding the hood up.

Much less expensive than the mopar shocks and work just as well. Replaced work hood lift shocks on my ‘04 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

This is the second time I have had to replace the hood lift cartridge. I have to try to remember to open the hood once parked in my garage, so the internal pressure is minimized. Since the lift gate gets exercised regularly, I have only had to replace them once. Cant say anything about durability, since I just installed it. Note that I only swapped out one, as that seems to be enough to keep the hood open, making it very inexpensive and have a spare for the next time, though I will have to try opening the hood out in the freezing weather to see if there is still enough lift.
