Pros: Bright and performs well in a room with ambient light, has a sharp picture and great HDR controls Cons: Contrast is not optimal, lens adjustment and focus is manual and makes it extremely tedious to adjust a ceiling mounted projector, fan noise is a bit loud.

Wow, this with a 100 inch screen and ceiling mount is fab. Really great for movie night at home. Buy it, you will love it. Really awesome picture. I use a home theater Dolby receiver with nice speakers and a large sub so don’t use the project sound at all.

We absolutely love this projector. We use it outside on a 20 blow up screen and we are able to plug our firestick into the back and use all our apps. We also used wireless speakers for the audio with no connection problems and the sound was crystal clear. The only downside is that it is huge but we knew that going in.

Received this on 3/18/21. This is a replacement for an older Epson projector. The difference in quality, clarity, brightness, and overall viewing pleasure is significant. The picture is so crisp and clear, I can see eye brow hairs on the butler in Downton Abby! So glad we purchased this product. We would highly recommend this. The whites are bright and I may adjust them down but would much rather brightness than dark and dull. My only regret is that we didnt upgrade sooner. I have a theater room and this projector is approximately 12-13 feet away from an 8x5 screen.

Heavy nice projector. The brightness is perfect which allows you not to have to sit in complete darkness to see a nice picture. Just plug it in and start watching movies. I recommend that you use high quality HDMI cables to get the best picture. I upgraded my Verizon cable box to 4K and could not get a picture and the same with my 4K DVD player. I tried everything but Epson support helped and suggested changing the cables and it worked perfectly. It turned out that cables that were installed in the theater room when the house was built (8 years ago) were out dated.

I have owned literally a dozen projectors but the only ones still used daily in my home are all Epsons due to their quality, ease of use, and price point. The family room has a UST Epson that is brilliant for its use case but it lacks 4K. 4K is reserved for the proper theater room and thats where the 3800 comes in. The 3800 hits a great price point for its performance. Its not as elegant as the 5040 since it lacks the automatic lens controls (which are so handy) but if your install is fairly simple then the 3800 gives you virtually the same picture quality at a fraction of the cost of the 5040. Its plenty bright for a theater room and will even work well in a family room after dark but if you dont have any light control then it will struggle in rooms with excessive windows during the day. Image purists will argue that Epson doesnt have true 4K due to their pixel shifting, however plenty of reviews will tell. you the same thing, you just need to see it in person and decide for yourself if you can see the different. Price wise it is still a big jump in cost to get a real 4K projector and even after paying that price you wont get one that can put out the number of lumens that this 3800 can. This is a perfect family home theater room projector at a good price. Its not a $5k or $15k Sony thats going in some high end custom theater but it will blow the family away in any modest home theater. Im running this on a 135 screen in a theater room with no windows. Its quiet, plenty bright, beautiful colors and simply great for the price point. If you own a 1080P projector and have access to 4K content on streaming services then I highly recommend taking the plunge and upgrading to see what youve been missing.

This is my very first projector. We have been using it for more than 70 hours now with Elite Screens Spectrum2 120 inch screen. The video input is an old Apple TV which is 1080p. The device is sitting next to the couch and we are using the horizontal and vertical lens shift. What we like so far: - Even with 1080p input, the image quality is fantastic (very detailed and sharp, can count the number of pores on the faces). - In the ECO mode, the machine is pretty quiet. It is next to the couch and it does not bother. In the non-ECO modes, the fan noise is higher but this is not needed unless there is plenty of sunlight. - Bluetooth audio works flawlessly with Klipsch R-51PM. This was a big unknown as specs were confusing in terms of which speakers supported or not. As soon as we turn on the machine, it automatically connects. This capability was very important for us as we do not use A/V receiver and have a stereo + sub setup. When lens shift is maxed out, there is a bit of softness on the shifted corner which we do not mind. Lately, most content is using shallow depth of focus anyway - which I personally find very annoying. Summary: Highly recommend.

I should have read up more on this model but there are no internal speakers. I planned to use external AV anyway, but just surprised it didn’t come with it. I am impressed with the picture quality and brightness though.
