I colored several pairs of leather shoes with Feibings dye. While they dyed well and were brushed and buffed multiple times, each still would bleed color to adjacent cloth. I applied the Resolene any it quickly dried and its protective coating stopped the bleeding of color plus it added a nice sheen that was pleasant. I applied with a small damp sponge and it created many bubbles, most of which vanished during the drying process. After the second application I noted some of the bubbles actually dried and were still visible on the vamp of the shoe. I retreated those specific areas with a third coat, but this time I used a very minimal amount and applied with a cloth. No bubbles were present on application and it evened out the dried bubbles that remained after the second coat. Overall I was very pleased with the final product and the single bottle is sufficient for many pairs of shoes or multiple purses.

I followed the advice of others who wrote reviews about Fiebings black Leather Dye by ordering this with it. What a difference between using the dye alone & this after the dye had dried! It made my Matte Black Tieks looks like new. Definitely purchase this with the dye & follow other reviewers advice.

Used on an axe sheath with the cheap black sponge brushes like you can get from Home Depot as I did. Lightly damp sponge, squeeze out excess dip in resolene and applied in long straight stroke with length of sheath limiting bubble , if you get some go back over to remove bubbles ,small ones flow but the big ones need to be fixed quickly before it gets tacky, I let dry for and hour then buff with soft cloth, the did inside, let the inside dry over night. Next day inside was ruff and hard thought it might scuff axe head so I took 100 grit sand paper and sanded the inside down and got it smooth again, dont know if this was the right way to do it being this was my first time, but seemed to work fine and has sealed inside as well. Hope this helps all you other rookies out there ,but good luck!

I used this after dyeing a pair of boots. It goes on looking like thin white glue but dries clear and slightly glossy. Great product.

Works great to prevent black dye from bleeding onto my skin. Leaves suede a little stiff, but wearing shoes should soften that up.

Fiebing"s Neutral Acrylic Resolene, 4 Oz. - Protects Leather Finish - Our most popular top finish for use over dyed, antiqued or polished leathers.. Acrylic Resolene is flexible, durable and water resistant. Best applied with a damp sponge. (Tip: Resolene goes on with a slight blue tint but when dry results in a gorgeous gloss finish.)
