> 24 hourA hair dryer does not do good enough of a job to remove the old screen so make sure you use a heat gun. It is a fairly easy installation once you get the old screen out. The reason for the 1-star review is that the home button on the replacement separated from the screen after only one month of normal use by an adult (no kids mashing the button real hard or being abusive). Now I am looking for another brand of replacement.

> 24 hourI managed to nick a screen cable when I replaced my iPad battery, so had to replace it so I could use the unit. Delivery was quick (I didnt have serious withdrawal), and the tool kit wasnt as complete as what I got with my battery replacement kit, but together they gave me what I needed for a successful replacement. I have not experienced the wonky button, as many have mentioned. What I didnt realize, and the instructions did not mention, is that new glue strips where already attached to the new screen, I just needed to remove the plastic covering on them before final screen installation. Since this was my first venture into opening any kind of tablet device, I was not aware of this - and I wondered why the screen, of all pieces, did not ship with glue strips (as my replacement battery had). Because of this, a lot of dust got under the glass very quickly and made the iPad practically as unusable as if I still had a dead battery. Now that I have seen another example of a replacement screen shipment, Ill know what to do in the future, and will most likely reorder this brand if needed in the future. Ive also noticed that this screen holds dirt and oils much easier than the OEM screen, and Im finding I have to clean it MUCH more frequently than I used to. Still, Im very happy to have an operational iPad back in my hands, for much less money than buying a new one.

> 24 hourI installed it on my friends iPad air and it worked for about a week then it started becoming unresponsive and sometimes the touch would do what ever it wanted, they would try to open an app it would open a different app try to close and it would minimize all apps. the swipe would not work. it seemed ok it just was not a quality product. it took a few weeks for my friend to get me the iPad so it is probably out of warranty and taking it apart would do more harm then good.

> 24 hourI’ve tried to replace screens in many other devices and failed. With this kit I won’t say it was super easy but it wasn’t bad at all. You will need patience and a good hour so you can do it right. It took me longer then most because my screen was completely shattered which means it came out in smaller pieces and not one. A quick tip is don’t be shy with the heat and blow dryer. The more time you spend heating the less time you will spend using the prying tools. Also for a shattered screen , the metal tool works better then the plastic. Would buy again very happy Edit - August 2020 screen still working like new ! Edit September 2020- I got my hands on another broken iPad Air and ordered this kit. Was even easier the second time around when the screen isn’t totally shattered. This time around the screen wouldn’t turn on when I connected everything. That’s why you test it before you seal it back up! After a quick heart attack , I did a hard restart by holding the power and home button for ten seconds. I was never so happy to see a piece of fruit on a screen. Can’t beat the price on these and the extra tools and parts are handy. Don’t bother with the kits that don’t come with the home Button. Just get this.

> 24 hourUPPATE: Below is my original review. Today, 13 months after the purchase of this, my 2012 iPad started acting crazy, consistent with the dreaded ghost typing digitizer issues. However, I have order a 2nd one. For ~$25 its worth it and Id be happy if it worked for another year vs buying a new iPad... My 2 yr old broke the screen of our old iPad in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic with all the non essential businesses closed here in Houston, TX. With the help of online guides (iFixit) and this part, Im glad to say that the new touchscreen works as new (knock on wood). Its only been a few hours since I put it together, but I havent seen any dead areas, no ghost touchscreen. Everything seems to work, as good as new. It tool a good 2 hours to install it and its not trivial. But it worked for me and was totally worth the $25+taxes.

> 24 hourHome button no longer works . I suggest reusing your old home button/flex cable . Adhesive sucks , buy 3m double side tape if you chose to buy this replacement screen with non working home button .

> 24 hourHome button is becoming less responsive only after 2 months and sometimes I have to press it harder. The included instructions are not even for an ipad so they are useless. Check Youtube instead. The flex cable is different from the OEM cable as it has an extra section that you need to adhere to the screen forming a loop. See picture that I found on Youtube. If you dont do that, you risk damaging the flexible cable and result in ghost touches and dead areas.
