Fluke 233 Remote Display Multimeter

Greater than one weekI work at an Auto repair shop, and we use multimeters fairly often.. I can honestly tell you it is a good multimeter, flukes are all good, and it is expected of them, thats why they cost $300.. But this particular model we bought, keeps draining batteries, and causes them to leak, or just says Error on the screen.. So now every time we use it, we put the batteries in, after we finish we take them back out.. ridiculous - Very poor design for a fluke I would say.. And this is why I gave 1 star, because even though the idea of a detachable screen is awesome, what good does it do when it causes all this inconvenience? So now we just use the old style fluke we had and dont even mess with this one.. I would expect this tool to work properly after spending this kind of money...

01-06-2025The Fluke 233 is a good meter for the intermediate user. It offers nice features but that has a major design flaw...

> 3 dayThis is an absolutely great tool. It has the quality that one would expect from Fluke. While working on automobiles, it is wonderful not to have to rely on other people any more than necessary. You can clip this multimeter to your desired circuit and then walk around the vehicle with the display in hand to do things such as wiggle tests or pull fuses to find parasitic drain. This thing is so useful that I cant believe it has taken this long to come out on the market.

> 3 dayIf you have any need to use this meter to inspect readings below 22 mV AC, do not buy this meter. The specification says it is accurate from 0.1mV AC to 1000V AC. However, after many weeks of working with Fluke on an issue of the meter not reading below 22 mV AC, while comparing readings using two different devices, they finally admitted that the Fluke 233 is not going to be able to read those values. They offered to replace the 233 with an 87V device for free. Thanks for trying to replace my $315 meter with a $280 meter with less capability for remote viewing. They were informed we would be keeping the 233 to do remote display capabilities, but were very disappointed that the specifications were not met by a flagship product. Clearly shows a lack of testing and support to fix their design.

> 3 dayWorks great for what I need it for as a field tech who works alone. Don’t need a second person to push buttons while testing on opposite end of machinery
