This is not plastic it is foam with a piece of rubber on the front and back. Nothing truly protecting you. My child just turned 6 and is 49.5 tall it barely covers her torso. Looks cute but thats it.

My 5yr old niece really likes this. It is cool, but mostly comfortable, and protective. I knew she would never wear a bulky or heavy protector. Granted, her little quad does not go very fast, but, it gets her used to safety first. She has tipped on the hilly slope, and understands how she was protected. Perfect for her first gear.

My son is 5 and a Med/Large fits him perfectly.
