Heart rate is accurate as long as you are resting. During exercise its all over the place. I had a Garmin Forerunner 235 before this and it was just as bad. I spent a lot of time with Garmin on the issue when they would tell me I wasnt using it correctly. This is a new sensor, but not an improvement. Got to use an external heart rate monitor (I have a Scosche Rythm+ which works without trouble) if you want useful data.

There are a lot of reviews on the Garmin Fénix 6 out there to view for the specifics. I purchased this after the version 7 was released and the price dropped. I love the astounding things this device can do, and the excellent battery life. I got the sapphire version because I didn’t want to worry about scratching the screen. So far so good. This summer I’ll be using the gps feature for hiking but up until now I have found it to be really accurate. I also love the ability to customize the screen and to download new faces and other apps. The only thing preventing a 5-star rating was the cost.

I received my watch on Saturday 10/13/19 - really excited to be moving off of my FitBit Versa that died after 10-months of use. The Fenix6S came pre-configured with 20% backlight. After I set up the watch, I found that I had a really difficult time reading any of the data because the screen is washed out. The black background is a dark grey and the colors are all very pastel - the screen lacks brightness and contrast. So I played with turning up the backlight to 30, then 50, then 80 and finally 100% - unfortunately nothing is helping. I also tried to use different watch faces and playing with a white background and black lettering (well it ends up looking - light grey background and dark grey lettering). I contacted support on Sunday via the Helpline (no answer yet) and contacted Garmin via FB messenger too (no answer yet). I am really disappointed with the watch for $700 I expected better quality. I am going to wait to see what Garmin support does today - without resolution I will have to return this watch by end of the week. :-(

This watch is a joke, you cannot resize the metal band. To resize the band, you need to use a tiny screwdriver with an incredible amount of force because the screw-pins are basically glued in. I broke two screwdrivers and stripped several pins trying to remove. Putting all my weight on the screws and using a vise-grip to turn the screwdriver was still not enough force to get the screws out and they still stripped. There are watches out there that can easily be resized by twisting the band links. Making a watch band that is completely and totally impossible to resize without travelling to a professional jeweler, is a terrible inconvenience and disrespect to anybody who ends up buying it. The bracelet comes the size of an obese persons wrist. Since this is a fitness watch, its likely almost everybody who buys it will need to resize it. Shame on Garmin for the design of this bracelet.

My battery usually lasts about 5 days if I am running every other day. It is not accurate around buildings or in the woods. It was off by .2 of a mile on my last certified trail race. The course was 1.7 the Garmin tracked 1.5. Without changing my speed the watch dropped from 9:08 minutes per mile in an open field to 13 minutes per mile when I entered the woods. Very disappointed in the Garmin.

Great watch and battery life with that solar charging niche so really bummed that display has not really caught up competition. I am still garmin for long but not this one!
