Gemini Taurus 3 Diamond Ring Saw

> 3 dayThis was my first purchase of any kind of glass cutting saw, and was purchased in part because of the praise it received from others in the stained glass hobby. As far as making complex cuts in glass, the saw deserves every bit of the praise it has gotten. However, after about 4 hours of use, the blade broke, and had I not repositioned my hand a heartbeat before that happened, the broken blade would have impaled my hand to the work surface. I contacted customer service and sent them photos of the damage and how the broken blade went down through the work surface. They responded back by sending a new replacement blade, belt and guide wheels. There was no mention of the safety issue when a blade breaks. Now I have a ring saw with about 4 hours of use, extremely clean, with a brand new blade, belt and bushings installed, and I am terrified to use the thing. So, like the previous reviewer Encantada, I think I may be looking for another kind of saw, like the Gryphon. So far I have not heard of any injuries caused by a regular band saw.

> 3 dayworks beautiful and not very loud(headset with ipod and can hear slightly). bought to cut tile, glass, natural stone, marble etc. for stain glass precision cuts as well as cutting tile for intricate mosaic work. For a wet saw very clean and not a lot of splash. I am using the Mega blade for the tile work however i would definitely purchase the standard and split blades to have. I cut stone and brick all the time but this makes detail cutting a pleasure and possible. The only thing so far to remember is the limited throat depth which limits the design. but that is where the standard blade would come in handy because it cuts in 360 degrees unlike the megablade which cuts front and back with limited side to side, due to the tear drop shape. This is the equivalant to a stone scroll saw. The youtube videos are not miss leading, watch and make up your own mind. Happy cutting!

> 3 dayAbsolute garbage after use. I’ve rebuilt this with the VERY expensive rebuild kit and it’s still garbage. At first I bought new gears, nothing. Then the blade broke and replaced it, nothing. (Ok pricey) and then I got the rebuild kit which was stupid, I’ve spent too much on this whole thing. The whole machine is warped because it’s made of plastic. Look at the pics, nothing lines up anymore. It lasted about 2 months before I had to spend too much money and since then I’ve had to compensate with a bungee cord to ‘pull it back in line.’ As of now I’m just over it. It’s a gnarly tool (for a bit), but being plastic, it doesn’t last. 1 star if that.

> 3 dayI no longer worry about the difficulty of curves in my patterns. With the taurus 3 right next to me, I can create any piece with absolutely no concerns. An excellent piece of equipment, I would recommend it to anyone.

> 3 dayOverall a nice addition to my collection of stained glass tools. It does take some practice cutting out glass pieces so spend some time practicing on some cheap glass before trying to use it on a project. The saw is a bit noisy but otherwise, no complaints. The most successful way I have found to cut an intricate piece is to transfer the shape you want to a card stock and glue it to the glass using elmers glue on both sides of the card stock. Let it dry before starting the cutting. Generally I have found that pushing the glass into the saw band is better than pulling it through...somewhat better control. The saw also is very helpful in shaving glass from areas of a shape that are otherwise not accessible with a grinder. In this case, I find using a silver marker and coating it with a chap stick will keep the marking visible during the shaving process.
