> 24 hourThe toilet valve was going on for about 30 seconds every half hour all day and night. I’d get up an hear the toilet running, then it would stop. Read about replacing this seal, a 10 minute job, and now the toilet works like it should. I noticed that the old seal had developed a small bubble which allowed a tiny amount of water to leak, eventually triggering the valve to fill the tank. This seal fixed the problem...no plumber needed!

> 24 hourIve had a slow leak that kept waking me up in the middle of the night. Went to two local home improvement stores, you know which ones they are, and seriously couldnt believe you could buy Kohler toilets but not the replacement pieces. I still think thats crazy. So anyways, reading some of the reviews about this yellow ring decided to give it a try. THe guy that said twist this thingy... that is my speed. Im rather seriously home improvement challenged. I even have peach colored tools. I did it in less than a minute. I did have to lift up the thicker black cylinder and twist the middle piece from the bottom (mid point) since it sounded like it was going to break when I turned it counter clockwise. The hardest part was putting the chain back on. Wala. Done!!

> 24 hourThe old seal was busted and the tank would refill every minute. I was worried as I was not the one to install the flapper and I had never run into a cylindrical one before. Once I got it It was quite intuitive on how to install it and took less than 10 minutes for the whole thing to be taken apart and put back together. Now my toilet only flushes after use.

> 24 hourMy toilet was leaking and when I opened the top to change the flapper (as I usually do on my other toilets) I realized that this toilet was different. I, of course started looking for options of changing the innards and ordered the complete cannister from Amazon (of course) I had it the next day and it looked just the one inside my toilet. But while looking up videos on how to change it I stumbled on a video of how to change the seal. The seal was only a third the cost of the cannister, so I ordered it, and it arrived quickly. I changed this out in about 5 minutes and it works perfectly. Not sure how long it will last, but for now its perfect!

> 24 hourFirst, I bought a cheap 3rd-party seal that was supposed to be compatible, but it leaked because the diameter was actually wrong. Then I bought this official Kohler seal, and it works great.

> 24 hourSo... do I give this five stars because its exactly what it is? Like, if you need one of these, this is the thing you buy. One-star or five-star, this is the product your toilet requires, right, so, what could this star rating possibly even mean? If you need a new one of these youre going to buy it no matter what I say. Unless you just want to throw your old toilet out and get a new one, but like, if you were that type of person you wouldnt be reading Amazon reviews of canister flush valve seals, we both know that. Its great. It works exactly as advertised.. how could it not? Its the correct canister flush valve seal for the model of toilet I poop into, right, of course it works. The instructions dont explain how to take the toilet apart to change it. Should they? I dont know. Im taking a star off for it, Ill tell you that. Ultimately I figured out how to just force it into place but I would have much rather put it on the right way. But here we are, and the toilet flushes great. Five-star product, one-star instructions, I guess.

> 24 hourI purchased this to fix a toilet that was periodically refilling throughout the day due to an insecure seal under the flush canister. Im not much of a handyman, but I took a chance on this since it was only about $5, much cheaper than calling a plumber. It turned out to be an easy fix, and the toilet has not been losing water since installing the new canister seal about a month ago.

> 24 hourHard to rate just yet, as I need to see how well/long it holds up when continually immersed in a chlorine based tank sanitizing tablet. Kohler says not to use tank chemicals as they void the warranty, but the tablets have been a necessary evil for me to eliminate biological build up of rings in the bowl. The OEM seals were orange-red and had deteriorated within about 3 years. They got sticky and made using the flush handle very stiff as the seal was bonding with the plastic cylinder [part of the float system]. Not sure if they began to fail because of the chlorine or some material defect. However, it appears that Kohler has this new replacement seal which may be a different material and may withstand the chemicals better. In any case, the seal was a perfect fit and simple to install although the instructions were not useful. There is a trick to removing and re-installing the 6 solid plastic center shaft so that it is easily removed/re-installed. The trick being to rotate the shaft to unlock/relock it in its base, which is hidden from easy view. You may want to check out u-tube videos on the process if you are not familiar with this Kohler design.
