We really enjoy this game, because it puts a twist on other games we really enjoy: Hearts and Fruit Basket (not sure if Fruit Basket is the name it is commonly known by). We introduced this game to other family members and we all had a great time playing.

We were introduced to this game a couple months ago by some friends from church...and it has become the go-to game for family game nights! We purchased the version with the legendary edition expansion, and while it takes a few rounds of playing to get everyone familiar with the rules, it is worth your time to learn it. In one hand (trick) you can take the lead, or lose it...and beware of the Kraken!! The BEST PART about learning the game is, if you have a question, you can call Grandpa Beck directly - and he will answer the phone!!! Get this game...it takes a few minutes to learn and a lifetime to master, but youll have lots of great memories along the way!

Fun

We are a family of avid board gamers. We have a ton of games between different families. I got this game for my birthday and for the last couple months we have played it quite often. Everyone who has tried it enjoys it. Easy enough to learn after one game. If you have ever played spades it makes it that much easier but definitely not necessary. My mother had never played and picked up the game quickly. I also like the fact that it is a smaller box to store. We enjoy Cover Your Assets also by this company and will explore their other games. Hours and hours of bonding fun.

I have to be honest. I originally bought this game because I was drawn in by the amazing artwork. The game sounded confusing to me, but I was so obsessed with the look of the cards that I decided to give it a try. Im so glad I did! We are having a ton of fun playing this game! I had to read through the directions a couple of time to understand exactly how to play. The most difficult part for us was keeping score. After two games, though, it was no trouble. We just kept the directions handy for reference. Im looking forward to graduating to the expansion version now that we have the basic version mastered. (The expansion is included in with the original game.) By the way, Grandpa Beck really does respond to your questions! I emailed a question about scorekeeping, and within MINUTES had a response from Grandpa Beck. He provides some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. The cards are very high quality, and the directions are witty. If you enjoy trick-taking games, I think you will really enjoy this one!

We have been playing skull king every week for 2 1/2 years... with my 80+ year mom, and we never get tired of it!
