The Grissl-e charger works great. Just plug it into the 240v socket and start charging with the 24’ heavy duty cord. This Level 2 charger fully charges my PHEV(33mi) electric battery in approximately 1hr 50min - wicked fast:) The Level 1 charger that came with my Tucson took approximately 24hr. I would buy this again and recommend to my friends n family. Heavy duty cord and construction. Its built for outdoor use. I did not install the plastic holster since its in the garage.

Not including the manual is a hassle for installers and users and also damages the environment. Printing out the manual at home uses 2 to 3 times the resources compared to the company providing a manual with the product. Moreover, the manual that you download covers 10 different versions. Youll have to sort out which version applies to you. If they were to include a printed manual not only would they be helping the environment, but they would make things less confusing by not describing versions of the product that you do not possess. Very well constructed. The enclosure would make anyone at NASA or the oil field happy. I do wish there was more information on the front panel instead of ONE indicator light. This one light has to provide a lot of different data. A simple 2 line display would be much preferred. I think part of their motivation was they didnt want to have any wiring going between their circuitry and the lid to the cabinet. I would rather have a lid that was on a hinge, with a cable that would flex when the lid opened and closed. Im not a fan of the dip switches inside utilized for changing the maximum amperage. I would much prefer to have this on the outside of the box. There are various situations where you might want to be able to EASILY change the maximum output current. For example, many homes have back up generators but that power can be limited. When utility power is available, you could set the unit on a higher setting, but when youre forced to use your generator, a lower setting would in some cases be prudent. The mounting bracket is interesting. I dont like the way its held off the wall. I suppose theyre doing this so you can attach the product to a wall stud. A better way of mounting in my opinion is to cut and paint a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and screw that to the studs, (carefully avoiding any in the wall wiring). And then mount the charger to the plywood. Telephone and professional home automation people usually do something similar to this. Most of the things in the design that I dont like they fully disclosed in their descriptions. I think most of my dissatisfaction is the lack of a printed manual with the product. Ive seen a lot of electronic designs and many PC boards. This looks high-quality to me. 3-Stars is NOT a bad review, I think they had a certain design philosophy in mind thats a little different from how I wouldve done it. Remember, a ground fault interrupter (GFCI) is required if this device is plugged in. I recommend using a plug, NOT hard-wired. In fact, I would own a spare car charger entirely. If your car charger were to fail, having a spare on hand could prove to be very handy. I miss the good days when people could comment on reviews. Sometimes manufactures would respond to a review, educating the reviewer as well as other people considering the product. It also allowed customers to help each other.

This charger is UL listed, which was a basic requirement for me. Im not a fan of IoT devices or smart anything. I see them as a security liability as ransomware and cyber crime escalate (not to mention govt surveillance). There are also a lot of reviews of smart chargers where chargers are bricked by a software update, or cant charge while updating, or removes some feature they liked via update. The Grizzl-e doesnt do any of that. You set it up and it just works. The mounting process is easy. The holster is functional and solidly supports the cable and plug using the supplied anchors on drywall. The case is heavy but not in a bad way - more in a this is built to last way. The cable is thick and makes the cord that came on my factory Bolt dual charger look puny. The cable is made to last. Changing output is easy - remove 4 bolts and flip some switches according to the manual. This unit was recently featured in a teardown on Munro Live. They loved the simplicity and added safety of physical fuses. This charger doesnt offer any bells and whistles, but this is a great value for someone who doesnt care about all the data mining and checking on things with your phone and just wants something simple and built to last. Set it up and it just works.

Before buying the Grizzl-E charger, I researched the heck out of it because of it being so inexpensive. The simple reason is that it doesnt have all the, Smart features that many of the others have. Since my car has all the information on the screen and in the app, it wasnt necessary to have it displayed on the device. I had the charger installed by a licensed electrician using the Nema 14-50 plug with a dedicated 50 amp circuit and it works perfectly. I set the schedule up in the car and sure-enough, charging started right on-time and completed in 2 hrs. using the 40 amp setting. The case is strong and the wire is thick, but pliable. The plug holster is disappointing. Although it holds the wire, the lip isnt high enough to firmly hold the wire in place. No big deal though.. I replaced it with a small garden hose holder and that works beautifully. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and appreciate the lower cost and 3 year warranty.

Very basic, but excellent. Don’t need a smart charger since the car handles most aspects of that. When our electrician first installed the Nema plug, the grizzle didn’t work. Called tech support, who said the blinking light indicated there was a short in the circuitry, which my electrician initially denied. Sure enough…for not being smart, it told us all we needed to know. We’ve had it now for 7 months and love it

This is a very well built charger. Heavy duty says it all. I looked at several chargers and found this to be the best value. Easy to install and worked perfectly. I called the company and asked some questions. They were receptive and friendly. There are cheaper units out there but I wanted to be able to communicate if needed. The price was very fair too. Recommended fully without reservations.

Nice product. Easy to install with mounting hangar. Case very rugged with a nice finish. Cable long and heavy duty. Only improvement would be to include a better holster as the plastic one is light weight for the heavy cable.

When it worked, it worked just fine. Its everything you would want out of a basic level 2 charger without any of the gimmick smart features the more expensive chargers have. It worked flawlessly for over a year, it even survived a month of constant rain and it still worked through rain and frost, then after the weather became good again, it just stopped functioning and the light on it that tells you the fault didnt work. I filed a warranty claim, customer service got back to me quickly but ignored my claim about none of the lights flashing, I replied, and I havent heard since. According to their own website, theyre supposed to send me a new unit under warranty and because this isnt a fault with the breaker, home wiring, or the car, but theyve been silent. Ill gladly change my review to a 5 star since this is a 5 star product when it works, but it seems like the only way to get these companies to stand by their product is to leave them some negative publicity on their product page. Update 2/23/23 They claim they were delayed due to a Canadian holiday but now theyre shipping me a new unit. I dont know if its because I left a negative review or not, but theyre finally standing by their warranty so Im changing my review to a 5 star like I said since this is a good charger when its not dead.
