    This is not a fancy charger, but it is well made. I track charging in my app and through power usage with my solar panel features. I went with this charger based on the value for the money. I don’t have any concerns about it. The connector is nice and works better than most public ones I have used too.

    My previous charger plugged in above the unit (the charger that came with my Mach E) and the plug is high on the wall. This charger can be installed upside down, with the wall mount installed facing normally. It only took a few minutes to install. I can schedule and monitor through the Ford app. It gives mostly 8 kW (sometimes 6) set at 40 A.

    We had bought another charging station to put in our garage for charging our PHEV. It was smart, with a phone app, LCD screen. While it set up OK, its smarts and the smarts in our car conflicted, resulting in NO charging taking place. I tried various settings, but could not get it to cooperate with the car. Sent it back and got this Grizzl-E charging station. The Grizzl-E is very well-built, maybe over-engineered but thats great! Solid, substantial. Very high-quality materials, including the case and, importantly, the cables and J1772 plug. And because it doesnt try to command the charging session, it cooperates with the car perfectly. I dont need the station to handle scheduling, amperage, time-of-day, etc. The car handles all of that, just feed it some power. Thats what this Grizzl-E does, and does it very well and reliably. Very happy with this charging station!

    Why did I give it 5-stars for smart features when there arent any? Because the cars (KIA) app does and tells you everything you need - you dont need an more control or info. The smart features with a charger would just be redundant. The ability to change the charge rate (with dip switches) also turned out to be an important feature to me. I believe some of the more expensive chargers do not have this feature.

    TLDR: bought the ‘smart’ version, returned it. Bought the ‘basic’ version, couldn’t be happier. Build quality: great. Unit seems virtually bulletproof, almost to the point of being overbuilt. Packaging: nothing fancy. Unit delivered in the manufacturers packaging with mounting hardware and link to the digital instructions. No unnecessary junk or styrofoam to dispose of. Install: mounting of the unit took minutes. All you really need is a 50A NEMA 14-50 receptacle, and you just mount the bracket to the wall, screw the mounting plate onto the back of the unit, and hang it. Ease of use: (basic version) Remove connector from wall holder, uncoil wire, walk to vehicle charging port, plug in, walk away. No issues with connector fit or function. Pricing: good value when compared to similar units. Far superior to the charger that my vehicle came with from the factory, which cost considerably more. Backstory: originally bought the ‘smart’ version, which gave me all kinds of fits during setup, and then would not work until ‘smart’ features were turned off…essentially turning the unit into the ‘basic’ one. Returned that one and bought the ‘basic’ charger for considerably less money. I’m using my vehicle app / settings to set preference on charging times and charge levels, and not really missing any of the other ‘smart’ capability. Have heard horror stories about Grizzl-e customer service / technical assistance, but not sure what you’d need them for if you opt for the ‘basic’ unit. Overall, very happy with this unit. 5 stars.

    Super easy to install. Stupid sturdy. The charger lead cable is huge but it is not hard to bend or manipulate. Already seeings the benefits of 40A charging vs my 30A ford mobile charger. No need for smart features since the truck has that all built in. Highly recommend this charger. The actually charger or box is smaller than I imagined. Installed this outside under a covered patio and we get 120+ degree weather in the summer so well see how it does in Mid July.

    The Grissl-e charger works great. Just plug it into the 240v socket and start charging with the 24’ heavy duty cord. This Level 2 charger fully charges my PHEV(33mi) electric battery in approximately 1hr 50min - wicked fast:) The Level 1 charger that came with my Tucson took approximately 24hr. I would buy this again and recommend to my friends n family. Heavy duty cord and construction. Its built for outdoor use. I did not install the plastic holster since its in the garage.
