After wasting time testing with the wrong address that was stated in the Amazon product description (no documentation came with the module) and finding out the right one (0x47) the display works nicely. Several pins were bent on the connector and jumper. What more to expect for that low price?

Easy to find existing libraries in Arduino

Great product and works as designed. One screen came with a loose connection on the contrast potentiometer. At first one of the screens would not display the text and after looking into it I could get the I2C address but it wouldnt display any text. The green back light was fine and after testing the contrast pot I found that it was soldered enough, so I added solder and it works great now. Good price!

I ordered two, weeks apart, and got two different products. The first one was great, clear, bright, high speed display updates, and good contrast and viewing angle. The second one looked very similar but the display was a little taller, and unfortunately has a spot in the backlight, the display is dim, updates slowly, and the viewing angle is not good. I want another one like the first one. Update: I have purchased three of these now and two are slow and dull with lousy viewing angle and contrast. I want another one of the good ones!!

I was skeptical that a yellow backlit LCD would be visually appealing, but the contrast between the yellow background and the black letters is the best I have seen of any other color combination. It is amazingly clear and bright. The unit I received has an I2C address of 0x27 just like the product description states. The LiquidCrystal_I2C and LiquidCrystal_PCF8574 libraries from GitHub both work equally well with this unit, so you can use either one. HOWEVER, both libraries turn the backlight off by default so having the backlight jumper on the I2C interface isnt enough, you must ALSO use lcd.setBacklight(1) in your program to activate the backlight.

Nice bright display. Unfortunately it didnt last- it lost most of the characters. Now it is a 2x8 display. I restored the rating to 5 stars because further investigation showed it was an over voltage condition that damaged the display. Would recommend this product over the other sellers because the serial interface is already soldered in place, so saved a few minutes. Plus, a better price.

Works fine. I did not need, nor want the feature of the IIC board, so I removed it and used the display as a parallel type.
