HOLMES 16 Stand Fan With Remote Control, Black

> 3 dayMotor feels heavy enough to run cool. The noise level is purely the sound of air turbulence, the fan and motor are near silent. Arrived scuffed around the base, packaging was not damaged. Aside from that, a step up from the usual plastic fan. A solid three stars for this fan, I would recommend.

> 3 dayThis fan is attractive, solidly constructed, and moves a lot of air. Unfortunately, its also very noisy--too noisy to sleep with, which was its intended purpose. Returning.

> 3 dayThis is an absolutely excellently made, heavy duty fan. I think it is even light weight stainless - whats not to like! Remember to read reviews with one eye on the mirror. Some of we folks cant screw on a lid properly. Much less put something together or understand the why of it. Ive been buying floor fans for years.....this is hands down the best. Is beyond my budget; Im saving up for another.....I expect it to last for years.

> 3 dayLooking at the long list of reviews under this stand fan page, its puzzling since most refer to other products like desktop fans, USB fans, etc. My review is of the 16 inch stand fan only. This fan is built very solidly. Its all metal. Metal base, metal pole, metal motor housing, metal fan blades, and metal fan guards. Not plastic like most are these days. The controls are very simple. One three position switch for fan speeds (no electronics, no touch buttons, no programming, no remote control, etc.). This makes for a very reliable product that should last far longer than many others. The only other control is the one to have the fan go back and forth or not. Again its a simple mechanical control. This fan moves a bunch of air. Its not as quiet as some but it really moves air. I use it to cool off while on a treadmill and the air movement is really appreciated. The built in fans on treadmills are really not good enough. So how do I know its all metal? Simple, use a magnet. Wont stick to plastic. Final comment is this is a very good fan and I expect it to last far longer than the more complex one it replaced. If you want remote controls, programs, etc. then this is not the fan for you however.

> 3 dayAfter a year it died. Not good value. A fan should last longer than that...

> 3 dayThis is the second of these fans I have bought. The first one burned out after over a year of almost continual use. Nothing against the fan for that, I did not clean it often enough. This construction of this fan seems to be different. The bolt that connects this fans base to the tower tube stripped out the nut in the base the first time I tightened it. The tower then flopped around uselessly. The tube that connects the tower to the base should have a longer collar inside of the base. Luckily I had not thrown out the old fan and I swapped out the tower tube, everything works correctly now. The construction is solid on the fan body but the bolts used to attach the motor cover to the motor is a special bolt head Ive never seen, you need a triangular shaped bit to open it up, that stopped me from being able to clean out the motor.
