> 24 hourIts somewhat tech intensive, but it works. You should also get no less than a 6160RF keypad. I have another one ready to add the sensors, etc. Youll have to be prepared for some salty programming but it is a good model with 2 partitions. An introduction to newer Honeywell alarms. Theres plenty of help on youtube. Make notes. Youll need them.

> 24 hourTore the old system out, stuck this in, reconnected the wires as they were in the old box and Im up and running. Simple and works well, why would anyone that can DIY pay others to do this?

> 24 hourThis product line is well established and is intended to be installed by a trained pro. Having a 20 year old VISTA 10S system that wasnt upgradable for any reasonable amount, and wanting to add on the EyesOn IP module, I bought one of these units to do the upgrade myself. Caution: I have a masters in computers, communications, and IP security - so I felt confident I could work my way through the upgrade. Heres what I did: 1) I went to the keypad of the old system and read off every setting the old system had in it to guide me with the new system, and compared that to the old systems settings. 2) I took the programming sheet for the new system and filled in what I could for the old system to make sure the new one would report to my current low-cost monitoring company. 3) I reviewed about four installation videos on Youtube - which proved key to actually making the system work 4) I mounted the new system board just above the old one within reach of all the wires. 5) I called monitoring company and put the system in test mode. 6) I powered the old system down, removing the battery first 7) I transferred the wires one terminal at a time (the terminals on both were the same) 8) I removed the old board and put the new board in the old mounting 9) I powered up the new board, then went to a keypad and programmed it (this is the hard part) 10) tested the system ofline 11) tested the system online with the alarm company Everything worked, and steps 5-11 took about three hours. It looks like the old system, acts like the old system, but now I can buy the upgrade modules.

> 24 hourI bought 2 panels, one of which was fine, the second unfortunately was damaged and out of warranty by the time I used it. The panel had been previously programmed and not defaulted, two zones were damaged and the battery sensing circuit was damaged. When you buy used equipment, you need to bench test immediately or have a better exchange warranty.
