Pros: These are identical to base stations i got from valve. Works like a charm. However, I have few cons that are making me consider if I should return these and wait until valve starts reselling. Cons: I bought two, and both are significantly louder than base stations that came with valve index. Very annoying tinnitus hum. No mounts! ?? This costed $50 more.. cmon man. Lastly, the wire is shorter than valve index stations. I needs to be at least 2-3 feet longer. Edit: Noise is not much louder than the valve base station.. it was more to the fact that any time you add another base station, frequency goes up and the sound gets louder. I have four, which make it really loud.

These things are overpriced, anyway - they charge what they can get away with. If you can get them from Valve, do so - youll save fifty bucks, which is still a rip off, but less so. And while these are functionally the same as Valves, they dont come with mounting gear, and the power cord is insultingly short. But if youre desperate for some base stations, these are better than nothing. The problem is HTC seems to be counting on that.

The base station itself is the exact same as the ones sold by Valve. That is not my issue. My issue is these are $50+ more expensive than the base stations sold by Valve on Steam. That wouldnt be that big of a deal if these base stations from HTC didnt also come with objectively worse accessories. Mounting hardware: Haha get screwed. You thought your $200 base stations would come with mounting hardware just like the $50 cheaper ones from Valve? Power cable: Not only is the cable that comes with these base stations sold by HTC significantly shorter than the ones sold by Valve, but it is also stiffer and does not hang nicely straight down the wall. The power brick is also much larger than the one Valve gives you. Overall: DO NOT BUY unless you absolutely cannot wait to get them from Valve. You will need to buy mounting hardware and have to deal with a shorter/uglier cable.

So yeah. It is more expensive and you get less than what Valve gives you. But it works and you can order it whenever. The 2.0 arrived after a week, which was sooner than the 2 weeks they suggested it would take. Ill take what I can get if Valve is out of stock.

Update: after originally receiving a 1.0 base station, I returned it and got a replacement which was the correct 2.0 base station. I had no issue setting it up and it works perfectly with my valve index and the other two base stations I already had. Original review: In case this happens to anyone else, I ordered this to be a 3rd base station for my new valve index. But what I received was actually a 1.0 base station, which looks different from the pictures and is not compatible with the 2.0 base stations that came with my headset. 1.0 base stations have a flat front and a button on the back to select channel. 2.0 base stations have a curved front and no buttons. So if you order this and its not working, make sure you actually got what you ordered!

Its amazing the cable I received with it was around 16feet long it just doesnt come with a mounting kit so I would get one as well again overpriced but worth it as long as you can afford it!

If you have a valve index, remember how you get those nice mounting plates in the box? Yeah these dont have that. All you get is the brick and power. You have to buy your own mount. And these cost $50 more. But they work perfectly fine with steam VR with my original base stations.

I only bought this because I was desperate for more stations, as steam was out of stock. know that the vive (this) version has no mounting hardware, and is 50 dollars more expensive for your trouble

Works great with my Valve Index.
