I have a LOT of ebooks - so many that I divide them by category (SciFi/Fantasy vs Mystery/History vs Romance vs History etc.) and store them on different Kindles. When one of my older devices gave up the ghost, I looked for a successor with more space to handle its category, read the reviews, and bought the new Kindle Paperwhite Signature, only to find that loading it was a nightmare! The problem is that the library management software is a disaster. So much so that, after the first day, I almost gave up and returned it. After finally finishing and starting to use the device, however, I do find that I agree with the reviewers who love it as an Reader, and so decided to keep it but I still cannot honestly recommend it to anyone looking to load more than a couple of hundred or so books - at least given its present software. Examples of what I ran into using the library functions - 1 - you can display your books by List or Collection but cannot display books within a Collection by List 2 - the List function insists on displaying the image of the book cover 3 - the Sort functions are wholly dependent on a hopelessly imprecise scroll bar. This is not a problem on an Oasis because the device has paging forward or back buttons but the Signature does not. Worse the Search function does not help you out here because, while it does a good job of finding a title or author, it does not advance you through the list (e.g. it takes you to the record you select but, entering the letter M for example, does not move you through the list of records to the first record beginning with the letter M. I actually checked with Amazon to be sure, and they verified that there is indeed no way around this - really ???????). (USER NOTE: My advice .. do not use the scroll bar as a slider, it is hopeless; instead tap multiple times on the bar using an over-and-under method to get to the neighbourhood, and then swipe up or down on the main body of the screen to get to a specific record) 4 - As I parsed through my 6-7000 records to download my 2800 books, I found the system became increasingly balky as I went along. I am not sure if this is because each record is tied to an image, but I found as I went on that the system would begin to bounce back to the start of the list after I downloaded an entry, and increasingly often required me to retap to complete t the download of a file (USER NOTE: I found that RESTARTING the device every so often would clear the jam for a while)

I recently upgraded my old Kindle Paperwhite 7th generation with brand new Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition 11 generation (2021). I am very happy with the upgrade except one minor and one major drawbacks: The books content syncs with the cloud only after manually sending the content from the cloud to the device, it wouldnt sync automatically, as one would expect. But this is not a major problem. The severe problem was that the collections would not show on the device, only on the cloud. They do exist in the background, though; when you try to add a book to a collection - the device shows you the list of existing collections with the current books collection checked. I could not sort the content by collection, this feature was grayed-out, although they existed in the background (you could create a new collection, though). At the same time the collections did show on my old Kindle, they even showed when I viewed my new device-specific content on the cloud, but not on the device itself. Untegistering and Re-registering the device did not help. Resetting the device did not help. Creating collections with the old names on the device was impossible, since I got the error message that the collections by these names already exist. I chatted at length with Amazon support, going up the chain of command, and they told me to do what I already did (above), I sent them a few screenshots by request, and they could not solve the problem. Finally I was told that my problem was logged as feedback for the developers, and that I was more or less on my own. I want to share with the readers what I did, which seems to have solved the problem: 1. Reset the old Kindle to factory defaults, so it does not interfere with the the process. 2. Rename all the existing collections IN THE CLOUD (suffice is to add a digit 1 to the name) 3. Create ON THE DEVICE new collections with the original names (creating them in the cloud does not help). 4. Add ON THE DEVICE the respective contents to each newly created collections with the old names. Use the content of the renamed collections inthe CLOUD as a reference to adding content to collections ON THE DEVICE. Stages 3 and 4 are immediately reflected in the cloud. 5. Delete FROM THE CLOUD all the old renamed collections whose contents you used as a reference. 6. If you re-register your old Kindle, the exact same problem appears there - collections will not show (although they exist in the background), so keep it as a spare if you wish, or return to Amazon. The process of creating new collections with old named is tedious. I am rather disappointed Amazon couldnt solve the problem, but after half a day well spent - my new Kindle is in working order.

I waited 8 months from I ordered this Kindle and until I received it. Was it worth waiting for? Yes, and no. Im disappointed by how often it freezes while Im reading. This Kindle has a touch-screen and to read the next page, I click the right side of the screen. Sometimes, I missed something on the previous page and want to go back. No reaction from the left side of the screen. So I have to turn it off and start it again. Sometimes, it happens to the right side, too. I click, nothing happen. I still see the same screen. Once again, I need to turn it off and start it again. This happens every time Im reading. I normally read for at least 15 minutes at a time, often longer. During the longer reading sessions, it can freeze more than once. Sofware or hardware problem? I dont know. But Im not happy about this problem. Otherwise, it would have been a good tool. Im surprised by how light it is. Its so easy to hold in one hand while reading. And I can sit outside on the balcony and read in full sunlight. No problem at all reading the words. I dont need to strain my eyes or anything. In the evening when I read in bed, its equally easy to read, now with backlights on the text. The battery life is excellent. The tablet I used before ran out of battery all the time. This Kindle... I think I recharge it every two or three weeks. Overall, I dont regret buying this Kindle. I just wish it wouldnt freeze all the time.

El dispositivo funciona muy bien, la experiencia de lectura es muy buena y agradable. La posibilidad de importar PDF y descargar libros desde la Kindle Store crea una sinergia que da mucho valor al dispositivo

Excellent screen, convenient library, smooth scrolling. Very inconvenient onof button. The button is located at the bottom of the Reader and often accidentally pressed and the device turns off. Its annoying. This is the only inconvenience. Great device and worth the money
