18-11-2024I have a LOT of ebooks - so many that I divide them by category (SciFi/Fantasy vs Mystery/History vs Romance vs History etc.) and store them on different Kindles. When one of my older devices gave up the ghost, I looked for a successor with more space to handle its category, read the reviews, and bought the new Kindle Paperwhite Signature, only to find that loading it was a nightmare! The problem is that the library management software is a disaster. So much so that, after the first day, I almost gave up and returned it. After finally finishing and starting to use the device, however, I do find that I agree with the reviewers who love it as an Reader, and so decided to keep it but I still cannot honestly recommend it to anyone looking to load more than a couple of hundred or so books - at least given its present software. Examples of what I ran into using the library functions - 1 - you can display your books by List or Collection but cannot display books within a Collection by List 2 - the List function insists on displaying the image of the book cover 3 - the Sort functions are wholly dependent on a hopelessly imprecise scroll bar. This is not a problem on an Oasis because the device has paging forward or back buttons but the Signature does not. Worse the Search function does not help you out here because, while it does a good job of finding a title or author, it does not advance you through the list (e.g. it takes you to the record you select but, entering the letter M for example, does not move you through the list of records to the first record beginning with the letter M. I actually checked with Amazon to be sure, and they verified that there is indeed no way around this - really ???????). (USER NOTE: My advice .. do not use the scroll bar as a slider, it is hopeless; instead tap multiple times on the bar using an over-and-under method to get to the neighbourhood, and then swipe up or down on the main body of the screen to get to a specific record) 4 - As I parsed through my 6-7000 records to download my 2800 books, I found the system became increasingly balky as I went along. I am not sure if this is because each record is tied to an image, but I found as I went on that the system would begin to bounce back to the start of the list after I downloaded an entry, and increasingly often required me to retap to complete t the download of a file (USER NOTE: I found that RESTARTING the device every so often would clear the jam for a while)

> 3 dayFor starters, Kindle devices are great for anyone who loves to read, as well as those interested in starting to read more often. Do not hesitate to buy one if you are part of that target. The only important question is which version of the Kindle is best for you. In my opinion, for 80% of people, the answer is the 2021 Kindle Paperwhite (8GB). Except if you are not interested in reading Manga, the Kindle Paperwhite 2018 is better. The size of the screen does not make any difference and the large screen frames make it much more comfortable to hold with one hand. Personally, I bought the Signature Edition thinking that I would need a lot of space to read Manga. However, I downloaded the full series of Attack on Titan and still had 30GB left over, which is more storage than Ill ever use. So, 8G are more than enough. And, in the extreme case where you run out of storage, you can delete the contents of the devices internal memory with the certainty that it will remain saved in your cloud library. Now, regarding wireless charging. Although it is convenient to have this option, it is just as easy to connect the device. I havent used it even once, because the few times Ive charged my Kindle in these 3 months Ive used it while charging. One feature I really love is the automatic brightness adjustment: I always take my Kindle everywhere, day or night, indoors and outdoors, so always having a comfortable brightness for reading is amazing. And something that I miss very much when I have used the Kindles of my friends and family. Still, I dont think its worth buying the Signature Edition for this alone. And to be honest, adjusting the brightness is a silly thing that is easily fixed. Bottom line, I love my Kindle SE, but Id be just as happy with the 8GB Kindle.

> 3 dayI love the Kindle and it’s dramatically better than my old one, which broke. However, the screen is slightly too wide to be comfortable for someone with average female-sized hands in comparison. I miss being able to hold my Kindle comfortably one-handed in bed. I would love if they had the same specs but offered the product in two different sizes depending on preference, as the slim bezels are perfect and I love the yellow back-light for reading at night.

> 3 dayEs un kindle, no hay mucho más que decir, es el mejor lector de libros electrónicos que he probado, tuve la anterior versión y decidí actualizarme, su pantalla más grande lo hace mejor para la lectura y su luz nocturna es bastante cómoda para la lectura, la duración de la batería sigue siendo excelente, mas de dos meses desde que lo tengo y no he tenido que cargarlo la primer vez.
