Not sure if its worth the 500 dollar price tag but it is a very good speaker. Sound quality is superb and has nice bass for the size. Would like it to be slightly louder for the price tho

So checked specs available on jbls website. Basically 3rd generation jumped up a tier each, along with their prices. Charge is the new extreme, extreme Likely close to 1st boom box, boombox2 is a step ahead as well. Only pairs with 3rd Gen be warned! The sync key symbol changes each generation, if they arent identical they wont pair! Lame but makes sense. 3rd generation supports Dolby atmos more so per speaker paired. That alone destroys the old system. Atmos is already fine tuned perfection. Also each speaker has somehow programed equalizing with volume so in 99% of the cases (minus old quality media dirty feedback etc) it essentially cant distort. But results in better bass at say 90% then 100%. It almost dials back while enhancing treble. And as far as I can tell is about as loud as any speaker can be without a pre Amp. But pre Amp would likely bypass programmed limits causing potential to damage the speaker. Be careful if testing its limits. Also when paired with a charge 5 it dials down to the programmed limits of the charge on the boom box. Unfortunate side effect it seems. Best output would be all of the same speaker it would seem. But quality of sound with 2 boom box 2s, and 2 charge 5s for at home Dolby atmos is moderately disgusting bwahaha sorry neighbors!
