> 3 dayUpdate 1-2-2021: Well it seems I made an error in my original review. If you do change your wifi name or password you can re-connect the device without loosing all your settings. The key is to not select reset device when re-connecting it, which is what i did. Then it will go straight to the wifi setup section without loosing names or schedules. However this isnt mentioned anywhere in the manual (which is just a little card telling you to use the app). I had to get the information from users at the Kasa forum and it took a while to find. So Im uping my rating, but still docking 1 star for this to not be documented in the user guide or app. Original Review: I purchased a TP-Link power strip and it worked so well and was so easy to set up that I purchased another one and this single outlet plug. It to was super easy to set up and works great. So why the low score? Well, if you make any changes to your wifi such as changing the password, SSID name, or changing it to a hidden SSID every single device stops working and must be factory reset and then reinstalled. You end up loosing all the device names, groups, schedules, and scenes. I routinely change my wifi password once a month for security reasons and am now stuck with having to reconfigure 13 outlets every month. This is completely unacceptable. There is currently no way to go to the devices settings and update the password, or change the network name. If you dont regularly change anything this is fine, but for those of us who are security minded it absolutely stinks. Untill such time as they push out a firmware or app update to address this, I wont be getting any more of these. I had planned to get a couple of more power strips and single plugs, but unless this issue is fixed, forget it. Its to much of a hassle to have to redo these every month. I can only assume that the rest of TP-Links products do the same as they all use the same app. How they let this product and others out the door with such a huge flaw is beyond me.

> 3 dayThese units are easy to set up and work really great !! I run NY outside LEDs on a timer on/Off and they work perfectly. I also have a couple of inside lights I do the same with. Great that if the power is interrupted they will re-connect when the power returns and do not lose the programming. Very pleased. Reccomend them.

> 3 dayMy previous switches were of the Toya/Smart Life app type and their automation is quite good. I switched to this brand because it had higher ratings, but I immediately regretted the decision. About the only thing good about this plug is that it was easy to set up. While I did have to create an account and jump through numerous check-the-box check-your-email hoops, once it was installed, I was able to quickly pair the plug to the app with no interaction with the plug itself. (With the Tuya app, you have to hold down the power button to put the plug into sync mode.) Sure, thats great. Its easy to set up. But thats where the happy ends. This plug is only able to turn on and off by schedule, work with a few 3rd party apps, turn off or on with a timer STARTED FROM THE APP ONLY, and... thats about it. With the Smart Life app, you can set the switch up to act as an auto-off timer. Click the button, and power will be applied for however long you specify, then auto-shutoff. To me, if being able to use a device with Google Home or Alex is the #1 reason, the #2 reason to have a smart plug is to turn something on for a while, walk away, and have it turn off automatically to save energy. And the Kasa plugs cannot do this. I honestly cant understand why this device is rated as highly as it is, except that its easy to set up. Beyond that... the app is very bad. If you can stand to hold down the power button on a Tuya plug for 5 seconds while pairing then its the far superior solution.

> 3 dayWhile you can find ‘cheaper’ or ‘smaller’ smart plugs you must remember that half the beauty of it is if it & its company / app / features are, well, smart. It’s pointless to get a cheaper or smaller one just to end up constantly stressed from set-up trials to its apps functionality. This one is affordable AND the company is reliable in the quality of there products which is why I give this 4.5 Stars because it is one of the best smart plugs out there for this good of a price ( I’ll get to why not 5 in a moment ) For example as some others have said, with We-Mo you had to scan the plugs to use them which is extremely difficult when something is plugged in behind furniture or in my case ( as I am 5’1 … and a quarter - hey every little bit counts ! ) but Kasa was easy to set up and even easier to use ! I love that it has the sense feature - that is a HUGE plus for this price and this kind of solid company. As is the ability to set an an On as well as an Off timer in case you forget, and you can set it in a few different ways such as with the sun rise or set and with a set schedule on the app. Works seamlessly. Only issue is what others have sad about the reality of it’s energy saving power and how what it actually uses being way more than what it claims. But overall like I said at the start, it is worth paying a few extra dollars to not have your blood pressure and sanity tested by more difficult and time consuming ( ironic as they are suppose to be time and energy- both it’s and my own energy saving ) products when this Kasa one is a huge jump in quality and reliability. So go for it !

> 3 dayI bought a 2 pack of these because they were on sale just to use for a floor lamp that has a foot switch. Once I figured out how to set them up, I had to have more. I now have 8 of these. They work with Alexa so when your coming through the front door, you can say, “Alexa! Turn on the floor lamp!” and a second later, it’s on. Or if you are coming home from grocery shopping in December when it’s gets dark at 4 pm, I can go in the app and turn on the lights from the grocery store so when I walk through the door with all my groceries I don’t have to fumble for a light switch. I have one on a small, one room, window air conditioner and can set a schedule for it to come on at a particular time on certain days. I have one in my kids room for a salt lamp that they use for a night light scheduled to come on every night at 8pm so they can see at bedtime and then off at 11pm so it’s not on all night. The only thing I can say remotely negative about these is that they need to upgrade the app. It works well but the user interface is a bit clunky with the widgets on iOS. They haven’t taken advantage of the new widget format so you can’t put it anywhere. It stays in the widget page and there is a lot of wasted space. This is not negative of the products functionality, it’s just how I feel about the app. There are some really nice things about the app as well. You can make “scenes” which is having more than one outlet doing something together in one tap. When I want to watch a movie, I hit my “Movie” scene I created and it turns off all of my lights but turns on a nightlight in the kitchen and a dim mood light in the living room. Some items that I have like my battery charger do not have an on/off switch so I would constantly have to plug it in to use it and then unplug it when I was done. This made it hard to place because I have to have it near an outlet that I have access to. Now, I put one of these smart switches on it and I can put it wherever I want. I also made a scene for “All Off” so I can turn off everything with just a tap. When you open the app, it shows you what outlets are on and which ones are off. Great for the person who always thinks they left something on.

> 3 dayI love these little smart plugs! I have a handful of lamps with no light switch and a plug thats in the outlet behind the couch or another piece of furniture thats not easily accessible. I plugged those lights into these smart plugs, synced them with my google home speakers and and now I can turn lights on and off with a simple hey google command or with the google home app instead of moving the couch every time or just leaving the light on all the time.

> 3 dayGreat plugs at a good price. I basically use these around the house to automatically turn off appliances at night and then turn them back on in the morning.

Greater than one weekOnce I got it setup, it works great. The problem was the setup process was frustrating. It kept asking me the same things over and over and over. At some point it decided to work and since then has been great. I wish I understood what caused the setup problems.
