Greater than one weekI got these to operate LED strips in the house and use their app to create an automatic schedule. Works like a charm. Simple and effective. I highly recommend.

> 3 dayI am beyond thrilled to have finally figured out how to integrate motion detection with the smart plugs so that certain smart plugs (where i have plugged in lamps), go off only with motion detection during certain hours. So first off, get the indoor Kasa cams too. They are inexpensive, and place them where you want motion detection. I was lucky bc we already had indoor Kasa cams all over our home. Next set up your smart plugs normal set up(go through the Kasa set up to add the device to your app). This is where it starts to get tricky but I promise once you do it once, you will find it SO EASY!! I am so excited to share this bc even when I asked Kasa support they didnt know the exact steps. First you are going to set up the ACTION you want triggered (you will set up the hours you want this to happen between later). 1. Go to Smart Action tab. --> When-->Trigger Device-->choose camera of your liking.---> Then ---> Control Smart Device --->choose your smart plug of your liking.--> Label it Motion Front Entry or something like that. Save. NOW we are going to set up during WHAT TIMES we want this motion detection to happen. For ex you likely only want a lamp to go off during nighttime hours, such as after sunset till 11pm. You can even offset your sunrise and sunset times such as before sunset 10 mins, or after sunrise plus 30 min. 1. Go to Smart Action tab--->When--->Trigger Time-->choose time you want your motion detection to start.-->Then--->Enable Smart Action--->pick the Motion Front Entry or whatever smart action you made for the motion detection. Hit Save. Now do this last step again but instead of Enable Smart Action you will choose Disable Smart Action at your specified Trigger time. You can even set up different times of day. For ex I have motion detection during early morning hours AND PM hours. I love this system so much. If you dont want motion detection just set up normal schedule like whatever days of week to turn on and off certain time too. I did this with our outdoor light switches for example.

03-06-2025The setup for these took literally less than a minute and they havent needed to be re connected once since i got them. the user interface is smooth, intuitive, and easy to understand even for people who are less tech savvy. an added plus i didnt consider in the beginning is how they dont stick out a bunch. They do add about 2 inches to the plug so using these behind a dresser or most furniture is going to be difficult but i can live with it.

> 3 dayI have a few of these now and I couldnt be happier with them. They are small and take up just one space on a two connection outlet so I can still plug in something else with no problem. The Kasa App is easy to use too and I have no complaints with it. In the App tap on the device to open it and then I can see the power usage now and over time, run time, schedule on and off times for the plug and then a settings gear where I can change the name of the plug and add my own picture from my camera roll or from the camera itself. It also has device information. It has a grouping feature that I have never played with. One thing to note on setup. When setting up a new plug it asks you to connect to the device WiFi in the the phone settings. On the iPhone, after the device connects, I get a popup at the top of the screen that says Im connected and if I tap on this popup to go back to the App it has always failed to connect to my network after that and I dont know why. The way I have success is after I connect to the device I exit settings and open the Kasa App again and continue from there. I have always had success with connecting to my home network this way as I continue setup of the plug. For me Im using these inside the house to control night lights on a timer and an away light for security while we arent home. I have one plug that amazingly can connect to my WiFi about 200 feet away at my garage to control a security light mounted on the outside. I also have three plugs in a little solar shed about 60 feet away from the house that are on all the time to tell me how much power my solar panels are producing. This is why I like these plugs so much. They just work and work well.

> 3 dayReason for Kasa Smart Plugs I needed a solution for a traditional timer clock that failed. As I had already bought into the Kasa brand/ecosystem (Ive known and found TP-Link to be a good brand for many years) with a monitoring camera, I decided Id stick with Kasa and find a smart plug option. The main driver being the desire to avoid yet another phone app and have something smart. These cost only a tiny bit more than a traditional timer clock. Setup/Connection Is Simple - Use the App These small smart plugs are pretty easy to setup and the app completely walks you through the process. If you have a Guest home WiFi network and put these onto it you may have to juggle a bit. The device on which you run the app to setup will need to connect to the same network/SSID as you put the devices on. In my case that meant manually ensuring the phone I was using for setup connecting to my guest network temporarily, given its setup to connect by default to my may home network. Recommendation: Setup a guest network if you dont have one to keep the smart devices isolated from your computers and phones and more important stuff on your home network. That way if a smart device, camera or whatever gets hacked, they are not on your network where you have your computers and smart phones and anything else like NAS storage. Somewhat protected. Scheduling Events - Initially Confused but Powerful Options Once setup was complete I did confuse myself setting up a schedule in the app. I expected the schedule to include both an on and off time in a single scheduled event - thats not how it works. You create a schedule for individual on and off events. I did really like the option to use sunrise or sunset as an event time. Given I am using these for lamps having an on setting for say 20 mins before sunset, allows for energy efficiency as the smart plugs adjust for the sunset time each day this changes. In my case then, lamps come on when needed, based on the sunset time, and not at some fixed time. Overall Good value and easy to setup and use. I bought 2 more! This way I have 3 less things to change for DST and they turn on lamps when it gets dark based on the ever adjusting sunset time.

> 3 dayI really appreciate having this product. I tell my Alexa device to turn on and off my lamp and it follows through. I can also program it through the Alexa app. I haven’t tried it with anything other than my lamp.
