My old solder was from the 1970s, but I was having issues with it not flowing cleanly. I decided to try a newer roll, which has the same specs. For some reason, this one performs better.

Awesome product. I have worked with Kester my entire professional life as electromechanical engineer 35+ years and this company never lets me down. This is a new item I used and I love it the flow rate is so quick the components being soldered do not even have a chance to get to warm to handle at least for me. The joints look better than mechanical hot flow machines that mass produce pcbs and other items. Always a shiny well even flow no gaps the pads on the boards do not get hot to remove the glue so they stay in place. I soldered some really grody nasty joints on things today and the core worked great cleaning the area so solder flowed evenly and smoothly. Once again KESTER ou knocked it out of the park I will always buy this product and the company that I purchased it from well I had it the next day I think maybe day after I ordered it but that was awesomely quick KUDOS to you. You have my business from now on. I made on a personal level some SMD RGB 5050, 0603, 2835 LEDS to hook up wire 30 Gauge and this solder was the bomb the leds did not even get to warm to touch I took it out of the clip soon as I soldered the common wire flow rate is awesome on new products not to bad on rework either. GREAT JOB.....

This has been my standard solder for the past year. Couple this with no clean flux and your set for most small/medium soldering projects.

This solder is very easy to work with, but to make it No-Clean as advertised, they use much less flux than regular solder. What this means is after you apply the solder for the first time, the small amount of flux dissipates, and youre left with dry solder thats very stringy and hard to work with, and youll need to apply your own flux to work with it again. That said, as long as you dont need to fix anything, this is still a very nice solder to work with.

I dont know if I am overheating or under heating but this stuff is supposed to activate similar to RMA. It is not. I have not adjusted my settings from when I was using Indium 53563-0454 (which I thought should be similar) and these two solders are worlds apart. I had to check the label to make sure it was 245 because it literally behaves like flux free solder. I have no better way to describe it. I bought this on the off chance it would be a good alternative. The solder balls up, dries out, and SMD components are literally popping off. Same settings as my last solder., check the spec sheets they should work the same as far as I can tell. I am assuming the rosin is burning off too quickly or I got a bad batch. Regardless, I wouldnt buy again. I gave this two stars because it still may have a practical use when using additional flux but that kind of removes the selling point of rosin cored solder. Alternatively, I could be making some error but I am going back to Indium.

I have used Kester solder for a long time. It cost more then some of the others but you are confident in your work when finished.
